I'm seeing loads of these every day now, not just in my neck of the woods either. Too many not to notice it.

Is this now the default car for 70+ year olds, In this colour? I'm not saying all pensioners drive them, i'm just saying, if you see one, there will definitely be a pensioner driving it (very slowly)

Is there some special reason for it? Do Mazda do an OAP offer that im not aware of? Is this a free colour option?

It's part of the benefits package us oldies now get along with free bus passes, free prescriptions, winter fuel allowance, fat private pensions, big mark up on house values etc.

We worked hard for all of this wink

Not while there are still silver Honda Jazzs in this world.

I would say the honda jizz leads the way on the OAP car of choice for tootling around at 50% of any speed limit.

See, I thought about the Jazz and Micra, but I rarely see them now. Even when I did, they werent all one colour, but these mazdas are ALL that specific blue!

I've been thinking about this since one wrote my TT off in 2014. That was identical to the pic I posted.

They got to be very expensive.

im gonna guess that they look at the dash of most modern cars and find them too confusing and busy. AFAIK mazda are known for having plenty of options as standard too. one thing that i think is rather silly on many other cars is how the decently specced cars tend to be a sport trim level with harder suspension (like zetec).

Every OAP I see seems to be in a Kia or Hyundai, especially the I10/I20/Picanto

My pensioner parents drive a Rav 4, they must be rebels. Then again it was for towing a caravan, and "the seats are lovely".

I guess this proves the oldies have gained enough wisdom & experience to demand good value & reliability in their cars, so avoid that German stuff.

Nothing says "you're going to be late" like the back of a Daewoo Matiz.

I haven't really seen many Mazda 2s around.

Unless you want red or a shade of grey, you'll be hard pressed to find another colour from Mazda!

I hope it looks alright on mine, and I'm not a pensioner!

There's an old lady on my dog walking route, proper nice old lady, always dressed smart, lovely little bungalow with flowers in pots etc..

Drives a brand new F56 Mini JCW. Mine is only a Cooper S, I could hardly believe it when I saw her getting out of the bucket seat with a shopping bag, fair play though laugh

reviews say they are more raw then a fiesta though. surely someone who's old would want something that's softer, like a fiesta? or even a polo?

Not the same colour - the Mazda2 is Aquatic Blue, the MX-5 is Blue Reflex...

Aquatic Blue is almost turquoise and much brighter than Blue Reflex
