Ford Focus

Always liked those rear lights.

Especially after knowing that became of that name.
I remember when that came out. Truly wierd at the time. I believe it was partly influenced by sea creatures !

I like the Pininfarina Ethos, partly because I saw it in the flesh at work once and partly because it was some of the inspiration behind the Lotus Elise.

When I look at concepts, especially really futuristic ones, I'm 10 years old again, thinking 'I might drive one of those when I grow up'.

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the BAT cars

For some "innovative" designs have a look/google for Soviet Concept Cars, anyone who thought the design committees didn't have a sense of humour never saw the NAMI-050 “Belka” (squirrel)

Some designers were obviously guilty of flogging a concept to more than one customer, I wonder if Citroen executives ever saw the Volvo Tundra before signing off on the BX...

But my favourite was probably the Bertone Carabo, which I seem to remember having as a Hot Wheels toy in metallic purple.

...doing 500 mile per hour standing still!

One of my favourites but the best imo is the unfacelifted (facelifted uglified version above) Giugiaro designed BMW NAZCA M12:

Stratos concept. Not sure if one actually got built for a customer too?

Great looking car.

Hideous.
And, like the Miura concept nothing but an imagination-free pastiche.
But this is really badly done too: the wheel arches, the lights - everything's wrong.

It's difficult to think of things which haven't already been posted.

used to love this when I was a kid, somehow doesn't look quite as amazing now...

Where as I still like this:

Just a modern rehash of the original BAT Alfas. They were proper Jetson space cars! (and actual scientific tests)

Nothing out there or outlandish but I loved the Rover 75 Coupe (I still like it even now but then I've got a peculiar love of the coupe form) -

Think my favorite would be the Lotus 250. The elise S2 really looks like it fell from space, and changes in fashion will leave it at a dead end like the Gieger Toyota Celica.

If only the new TVR could look as good as that^^^

(unfortunately, you can't have an "impossibly small" glasshouse anymore because it will fail the type approval lines of sight regs....... ;-( )
