I still have my first car - an E36 coupe which I bought three months old and is now almost 17 years old. I'd love to have up to £20k to spend getting it restored and there's nothing in the Ts & Cs saying you can't still own your first car, so I'll probably give this a go.

What a wierd competition... it clearly favors those who were well off when they were 17/have rich parents.

Do you have to prove ownership? what's to stop me from lying and saying my first car was a ropey Ford Escort Cosworth?

Just read the T & Cs and that's most of us out anyway. No points allowed on your license and no accidents or claims in the last 3 years. You also have to be 25 or over.
But they do say The value of the prize is up to £20,000 including refurbishment costs and vehicle tax.
So if you're going to enter think of a car worth around £18-19K to make the most of it wink

I love competitions but am definitely am not interested in getting my beige Mk4 Golf 1.4 back.

Just like I wouldn't take my first girlfriend back, or move back into my first flat or go back to my first job... If I wanted any of those things, I wouldn't have got rid of them in the first place!

My first was one of these:

This is a library pic as mine had the factory fitted holes in the wing, optional rusty subframe and floor based through flow ventilation.
Its probably been reincarnated as something more worthwhile like paper clip (about the same amount of metal in both!).

Best car is a tough one.... but the one I'd like back most is probably this one:

Also no longer around I suspect given I last saw it in 1984.

Current is this:

5 litres of V8 goodness.

I'd have my first car back like a shot, and the second, and the third. You lot should have made better choices! laugh

Mine were, Triumph Spitfire 1500, Westfield SE and Mini (proper, not lardy)

The first car I chose I'd have back... that Mini above given to me.
The one I chose was a 1965 1275 Cooper S (also long since scrapped).

1st car. Loved it. RWD, 2.0, carbs, would have it back but like it not to be falling apart.

1st car: '89 Shogun SWB that I purchased with every last penny I had when I was 14. Got driven with very little mechanical sympathy, but still ran like a champ until eventually it finally had enough of me hehe Still got half an eye out for one very similar, but they're very thin on the ground.

Best car: Either my first MINI or my current one. I've really liked nearly all of my cars, so tricky to pick just one. But the adventures and trips I've had in both MINIs have been very memorable.

Current car: R53 Cooper S, Range Rover Classic, Land Rover Discovery 2 and a Ford Puma.

I dunno... My first girlfriend was a bit of a hottie and last I saw was a WAG style stunner. Damn my teenage grass is greener attitude! laugh

I would love my first car back, if for nothing other than it would be worth a few quid.
It was a 1968 (very early) 2 door MkI Escort, only 38k on the clock and freshly resprayed in 2 tone metallic blue.

Given to me on my 17th birthday by my dear old mum, whose car it was originally - 3 months later after having passed my test, the 1100cc Xflow lump was too slow ,so I promptly px'd against an 18month old MG Montego; ah the folly of youth!

Best car - probably the Turbo Technics XR4x4 I had in around 1990. (although rose tinted specs may be required) or my E30 Touring with an M30 3.5 conversion, a keeper forever.

Current car - S Class that firmly refuses to break down orthrow up expensive faults, it has proved to be one of the most reliable and longest owned cars I've had, in fact I've just put it through the 3rd MOT under my ownership without (again) a single advisory - damn you internet rumours with horror stories of how badly made this era of Mercs were.

First car, yes that is the right way up.
At least that's how it was the last time I saw it. hehe

Mine was the right way up most of the time but it was the same stbox as yours. I had a 1.1 205 junior with denim seats and rainbow coloured stitching. I think it was about 12bhp and although it was a 5speed I never got to use 5th. It was an abomination of a car. Luckily it had a private plate on it when I bought it and I sold it for more than I paid for the car

Pft the 1.1 was a beast compared to the 1.0 I had, 954cc 4-speeder, utterly slow but apart from that I do miss it paperbag
