I've had her since i was 19, i'm now 34. Love the car to bits! The picture with the hashtags a guy i was working with saw it on the internet! It was when i parked it up one summer. I'll get some pics of the interior, its standard except for the half roll cage, no rear seats, carpetted boot, set of Cobra period reclining buckets and boost guage. Tried to do it all tastefully.

I got into quite a lot of trouble for taking my company 5GTT to Brodie Brittain Racing. They boosted it to 155bhp from 115 and fitted a much stiffer and lowered front suspension. It knocked 10 secs a lap off its time around Goodwood. It did however develop quite an appetite for front tyres and intercoolers as a result, and the clutch cables gave up up even more frequently than they had before. I wonder what happened to D514 SGP. Imagine it's been melted down by now.
Haha. Had something similar. Took my 5GTT company car to Radbourne to have it 'tweaked' which was great until it got nicked from outside the house. Still, meant I replaced it as my next company car with this!

When I left, I kindly offered to buy it off them for £4K and still have her today.

A Raider you say ... lovely things. Here's two of mine ...

... on the day I switched plates over.

My Mum had a couple of R5 Monaco's. Leather seats made it feel rather slidey in the bends and the power steering was so light it wasn't really the most appealing vehicle to drive.

I remember when I had my first very early R5GTT and despite large "turbo" stickers down the sides (it was the 1980s after all) I seem to remember quite a few folks being a bit surprised by the turn of speed a little R5 had to offer.

I don't want to come across patronising or clever but the Renault 5 GT Turbo didn't have power steering. Heather the case 1 or final case 2 which the 1 raider in your picture would have been a case 2 1990. I had 1 approx 16 years ago and wish I haddnt sold it. I loved that car. It looked bog standard but I fitted a T25 Hybrid turbo with 360° bearing. A full aluminium pace over sized intercooler. An actuator from the old school gordini ( remember the first R5 turbo with engine in the rear and rear wheel powered) it was in a big screen car chase bond movie chasing Sean Connery. Anyway took it to Santapod quieter mile drag strip in one event. Completely messed up my start against a MR2 turbo. And my second run was against a young rich kid obviously in his dad's car prob approx 18 yr old. I turned up the bleed valve a little more and was wheel spinning threw the box neck and neck in 1st 2nd an 3rd. Came 8 tenths of a second behind him. He was in a almost brand new Porsche Carrara 2!!! Not the 911 turbo obviously but still a 911 Carrara 2. I have the ticket somewhere. My raider did the quieter mile in 14.48.... something seconds which is quick even by today's standards. 1.4 8v petrol pocket rocket. If I still had it in the condition it was in back then still today it would be worth 15k easy. I had 4 R5 GT Ts at one point outside my mum's she hated them. Same goes for the mk3 escort I wish I still owned. The series 1 Rs turbo in white I sold for 800 quid 20 yr ago. There worth 25k in good condition now as well. Had an all XR2s an 3s RS 1600s Rs2000s mk2 escort RS2000 Mexico's. If only we had known back then I'd have filled a unit full of them and theft them weather proof for 20 years then cashed in. But never the raider. My son's mother forced me to sell it because my everyday car was a Volvo T5 then BMW 540i. Don't sell that raider. And if you decide you want to let me no If I'm in a position to buy it I will. You say the pic that there's 2 of yours but only 1 of them is a GT T Raider mate and like I said at the beginning that don't have power steering that's why there so quick cause there about 800KG roughly due to not having all those luxurious extras. Thanks for reading. Kush

Yep, I had one snap just managed to limp home in 2nd gear but was entertaining having to judge traffic lights and junctions for about 5 miles till I got home. biggrin
It's possible to change years up and down if you get the balance of engine revs just rich so you not accelerating or decelerating. If you have to come to a stop then the engine of put it in first clutch out and turn the key so the starter motor gives you a little movement until you can accelerate and it's all about timing. When I'm out on my motocross bikes except for setting of I never ever use the clutch to go up years. Using your starter motor on a car to get you moving can't do the motor any good at all. But I've got home like this in some R5 GT Ts a few times without a clutch. Modern cars are a different story though. Hope this helps if it ever happens again. Just balance the accelerator so the powers at zero if you get what I mean. It works both changing up and down.
