Nothing wrong with them in your opinion perhaps but for most posters here for £50k they would like to see a more sporty seat to go with a car of such performance as per other manufacturers rather than just a seat lifted out of any 1/2series with leather.

Opinions are like .........etc
yes

For £50k I expect sexy front seats.

If it's confirmed that the M Performance seats will fit the M2 then it suddenly becomes a much more attractive proposition.

For £60k I expected sexy seats in the M3.....and BMW fit some cheap thinly padded things instead, even the under-thigh adjustable squab extension has been deleted FFS.....it's the only reason I didn't order a new M3 a few months back. So, other than the leather quality, I wouldn't exactly slag off the seats in the M2 as a result.

I tried a E82 135i fitted with those M Performance seats, and I wasn't impressed, again the lack of adjustment is a real issue with them, with only two fixed height positions at install, once in, that's it no height adjustment. Again, lack of under thigh support was an issue for me as well. Failed to see what all the fuss was about with those seats, especially given the cost!!

The car is not 50k - it’s 44k – but you massively round up in same regards the A45 AMG is a 55k car

And it’s not most posters – it’s a couple. And as a percentage of real potential customers who were really going to buy and M2, ready to place order etc. but saw the seats [or a photo of] and decided to cancel the order quickly, I would say it’s a fraction of 1%.

But no problem at all if this is your opinion, you are totally entitled to it.

If you wouldn’t buy an otherwise excellent car based purely on your perceived opinion of its seats fair enough, whatever floats your boat if all you are interested in in purely 100% seats, nothing else.

And as states it’s not as if they are that bad. They just aren’t super special

Plus in regard to other manufactures. Going back to the A45AMG [i.e. direct competitor for obvious reasons as stated – manufacture, performance, price etc.] it may have nice seats, but the rest of the interior is poor quality.

I drove one, v nice exciting car, and sat in other in merc garage – brand new. The quality of plastic isn’t great to say the least. Actual bits of trim broke off a colleague’s and other trim feels super cheap, looks fancy but its cheap feeling

Even the brand new one in merc showroom I say it one piece of trim was broken

That I think it actually more of a deal than then the seats in the M2, that would annoy me more in a 55k A Class

No need to get eggy. Its a £50k car if its rounded up by £3k. Big deal.

And the seats are crap as every poster will point out.

And how crap an a45 amg is has no bearing on any of this however much you want to keep dragging it up.

Calm down dear.

Seats are great, I have them in my M135i.

I don't understand some of the vitriol on this thread!

Looks are subjective, fair enough - but all the reviews say its a superb drive...

And there you go. The seats are from a car worth half the money.

Jeez that really does look crooked. That would annoy me immensely.

Sounds like a great car but with loads of costcutting going on.

Actually my car was £35000 in Dec 2012, discounting was much smaller then and it's quite well spec'd

I wasn't aware the M2 was £70k, I only managed to get to £48k with almost all the options (without going for any M-performance parts) for mine which is due in June.

Yeah they do, not good for the neck and shoulders on long drives, sitting and looking at an angle smile

But did you not know 44 actually = 70 going by rb5er's school of maths?

Congrats on your order, for the money I think the M2 is unbeatable. Drove past my local bmw garage and see a grey demo in their carpark. It's looks even better in the metal.

I must call in for a test drive and see how bad the seats actually are 😁

It's ok I'm very calm. I guess context can be hard to judge in a forum post. I also think I'm not being 'eggy'.

I just genuinely think it's being pedantic judging this car solely on its seats, especially when they aren't that bad.

From everything I've read about this car it's sounds as good as it gets for the money. And seeing one today in the metal impressed me. For sure No car is perfect but for 45k brand new I can't think of a better car with everyday use ability, performance, quality, practicality, looks, running costs etc.

All that money for a car with a wonky drivers seat? I couldn't deal with not being able to sit straight. Wonky heel and toe can't be easy. That would put me off If I am honest.

Wonky seat, a slight exaggeration. Tell me what other car for money is better?

Btw nearly every rhd car sold in UK will have slightly offset pedals seats etc. inc British Made cars. And certainly all mercs Audi Porsche ford Ferrari etc

Very few cars aren't, fact.

Plus you could easily buy a lhd one.

I actually own a lhd 4 pot (the shame) 80s bmw so no such problems for me.

I assume you also have a lhd car?

That wonky seat would certainly be a no go for me. I couldn't deal with that even if I could get passed the poor choice of seats. Now I aee why there is no upgrade option. Looking at the video it is indeed very wonky and nothing like just offset pedals like the old 130i which I found irritating enough.

I have never seen or bought a car with a seat pointing off at a funny angle like that. Not sure which cars you are saying are similar. Thats a wonky seat which is not the same as some cars having offset pedals.

I do think Bmw could've been a bit more generous with the standard spec. I don't see anything wrong with the actual design of the seats but the fact they look like they're covered in imitation elephant skin let's them down as does the fact there's not even a cost option to upgrade to a better quality leather or even a nice part cloth, part alcantara option to suit the cars sporty nature. Likewise I don't think it would've broken the bank to have added the M3 mirrors in place of the standard bricks attached to the side as they did with the 1M. The lack of carbon roof is a bit of a let down too but I accept that this would push the price up considerably.

I don't think there will be a CSL or GTS version of the M2 because the price would be firmly into top spec M4 territory but I can see a competition pack being an option eventually, probably slightly lower suspension, lighter wheels, upgraded seats and a power hike to around 390 bhp for a couple of grand premium over the standard car.

BMW must be gutted that rb5er is not buying one, they were counting on him.
The car is closer to £40k than £50k btw in manual. No particular options needed, even paint and pro nav are included.
Those seats are nothing short of superb ergonomically and keep you in the right position even on track with a g-lock.
They are well aligned with a £50k price tag.
