You reckon Ratan Tata is a ptrolhead?
No.
So doesn't that kind of kill your argument about whether Musk is a petrolhead?

Dull, but Volkswagen actually has the profit. Tesla, before the Model 3, was falling down. And there's no concrete evidence that 400,000 people are going to buy the Model 3. Tesla is only supporting 115k of them.
But at least Tesla are moving towards profit without the aid of intellectual property theft and slave labour. Which is nice.

I didn't want to rub it in but yes, there is also the cheating fraud allowed to flourish by dysfunctional management and a fundamental lack of engineering integrity.

Walking past the Tesla store in Bristol today I thought I'd have a look around to refresh my memory after some of the interior comments.

The interior really isn't great if I'm honest. It's largely down to that massive hole between the front 2 seats where there is a flat storage area on the floor.

That ruins the interior for me. What's the point in having storage so low?. They need to build something to make it look more like a conventional transmission tunnel.

This will make it feel more like a luxury car rather than a van which is that that large empty area reminds me of.

That's a bit sad really, given that it doesn't need a transmission tunnel because there's no transmission. Just shows how irrational people are.

The GTE isn't slow. And still has better quality materials than a Tesla.
It's slower than the Model 3 will be and hugely slower than the model S is. But, you know, priorities. Badge and plastics.
I've only just looked at the interior of a GTE. Its like something out of the 80's (cloth tartan seats ffs!) and is acres of cheap black plastic. How is that better quality than a tesla interior?

Can someone post a picture of both (i have no idea how to do that) and you be the judge.

I would agree with you, though they could just spec it as an option. As it is, it makes the cabin feel a lot more like a truck/van because of the lack of a tunnel.

I must admit, when I first got the car I felt it was a bit weird having so much space down there; however, now I've got used to it I'm not sure I would want the centre storage unit that is now OE fit. For instance, it gives a great place for the missus to put any one of her massive handbags, and it is also great for standing a takeaway in! You can also plug in a couple of mobile phones on charge and leave them down there. The only real negative for me is that when you accelerate hard, anything in the little tray under the screen flies out into the big storage area below!

I think you got it the wrong way round. The tartan seats have been a feature since the original GTI, and is well presented and airy. The Tesla, however is, chromey and st looking with a gopping huge monitor literally glued to it. I am suprised you are even still ranbling on, since I left the conversation last week.

rolleyes

This is how you lay out a screen.

So run along, go drool over Elon Musk's latest divorce, and go read the criticism of the Model 3.

One more thing;
The Golf GTE costs around £30k

The Tesla Model S costs around £80000

The Tesla Model 3 costs £30000 and a Dacia Sandero has a nicer interior.

Hybrids are the way forward and EV's are destined to leave you stranded thanks to your stty range

Goodbye

That Golf interior is one of the dullest, blackest and most depressing things I have seen for ages. The Tesla on the other hand looks modern, clean, light and actually of this century. No contest IMO.

Agreed, dull as dishwater, I just don't get the fuss about VW interiors at all.

Plus I specced a Golf GTE and it was just shy of £40k.

Tesla model S starts at £56k not £80k. and the interior is way nicer.

That is your opinion. Yes the Golf interior looks a bit depressing in the photo thanks to a dark enviroment but I have sat in a Golf R ( a similar interior) and I was extremely impressed. That being said I have just sat in a Tesla interior and I found it too fussy, but overall I am pleased with the interior in my Audi.

Exactly what it looks like.

So a £26000 difference. I bet you specced a GTE to maximum level. If you spec a Model S to maximum level, there you go. £120000

Nope, it had nav, upgrade wheels, not a lot, I was genuinely shocked.
£39 something is an astonishing amount for a Golf.

A 70d is much more car, and you certainly can't compare a golf to a P90d which is more like M5 / RS6 performance

Tbh I have to agree with you about the Golf. I specced an 1.4 Audi A3 to £63000. Ridiculous. However I dislike the Tesla, I would have an A8.
