Those new wheels are bleurgh. Any pics with the 18s?

Overall, decent. Im not a big fan of the new TT anyway, but it wears the RS stuff well. Definitely better looking than the new R8 imo.

Whilst the TT is not quite my cup of tea as far as cars go, it is a good looking car, and I can remember the fuss that was made, when the first one was introduced, but having seen a bloke in a Tesco car park with R8 `kit' on his TT, it seemed to make it look for all the world like a bit of a clowns car, and not the clever design of the standard TT body shape.
Modified TTs are, on the whole, vile. I'm not sure I like the look of the things to start off with though. The R8 just looks like a modified TT in any case.

There's no doubt that both cars are well built and perform well. They are just too obviously the Audi look nailed inexpertly on an innocent sports car. The same applies to Bugatti co-incidently.

Back on topic, would I buy a TT RS? No, but as I'm not the target market for it Audi won't loose any sleep about that.
The R8 looks like a modified TT???? You have never seen these cars parked next to one another have you?

Design language yes, but they are totally different proportions in the flesh.

Like. Sure, it's unlikely to be the last word in driver involvement but in the current climate of forced induction and autoboxes, not many cars are.

From some of the images it looks like you can get the same bucket seats as in the R8 (like below).

That should attract some of the M2 critics biglaugh

Wondering if this power plant is for they golf r400.
Good point. The EA888 version was tested but blew up, this would be a direct drop in with development costs close to zero.
TT-RS plus would ensure the Audi product holds the crown.

Yes, and the Porsche Macan is an Audi Q5 in a frock. The Cayenne is a Toureg in a frock. The A3, a Golf in a frock. Many modern cars are based on other cars. It still looks amazing, and will be a very, very fast point to point car, with more sense of occasion than an RS3.

Cant see the 5 cylinder making its way into the Golf, its one of Audis special pieces so why would it? Id rather see VW resurrect the VR6 engines, would be great in turbocharged form, but the size, weight, efficiency and not having a car really worth that size of engine means it will never happen.

I like this, but I just can't get over the fact it's a TT.

I still have the hairdresser image etched onto my mind!

Indeed, because it's still got that 'bosom & bum' look that no amount of swelling of wheel arches or dark frontal apertures can overcome.

I find that very impressive, should make a massive difference to the handling characteristics

I agree, black out the silvery bits and I think it's a great looking car.

Although not cheap and align with some very tasty* competition, this would still make a fantastic daily.
It's ok, bit too much catfish about it in my opinion

Certainly has a MUCH more aggressive front end compared to the 718.
A conscious aspect?
Wonder if that's because Porsche driver's have less to prove ...or Audi driver's feel they have something to prove...hehe

An RS would be the only TT I'd have on any future shortlist, I think it has a lot going for it. It should be where Audi stops performance wise... The R8 is and will always be a stretch, given the up-scaled TT/A1/A4 look. (IMO thumbup)

smile I think Audi are trying desperately to shed the hairdresser/female oriented image, is all...and more power to them! I think they have achieved that at the front, just perhaps not at the rear.

As an aside - I saw that Autocar are claiming only 50 will come to the UK....surely that can't be right?? "Audi only expects to sell around 50 models in the UK this year, with the Roadster variant accounting for around a third of that number.".

Sounds like they are going to be pretty freaking rare!!!

They sold 550 is in 3.5 years which makes 50 seem incorrect
