Done! I'd be grateful if you'd return the favour.

Not the best first impression.

It's an interesting platform and I've come across some really good content. There are a few teething problems but they have been working to implement suggestions from the community.

I don't think anyone is keen on the Facebook login so that may be changing but as said earlier just create a profile, it doesn't even have to be under your own name, and away you go.

Today is the first day it's being opened up to the public however it's a phased thing so only a few thousand at a time are being allowed in. Sensible really as when it was just tribe leaders they found out a few unexpected issues so letting the public in will probably highlight other issues so best to do it slowly. I would imagine in a couple of weeks it will be fully open.

They only tell you that after you have linked you FB account. That is taking your money and then refusing to give you the product. I for one will be ensuring my FB details are removed and will not return.

It is a bit stupid allowing you to link your FB but then asks for a code.

Does anybody have a code to share btw? PM me.

This. 100%.

I gave them my FB details. They didnt give me what they promised. Its not a way to do 'business'.
I've raised the issue on the help forum and they have responded that they'll update the information on the front page and also if you don't have a code then your FB details are discarded.

I've not had a FB account for many years and I don't think this'll make me change my mind. When I heard about the DriveTribe thing it just sounded like a vehicle for keeping the Grand Tour brand floating around before the new series next year. I must have accounts on six or seven forums but I now only really bother looking at PH. DriveTribe feels like when an insanely wealthy businessman buys a football club and throws millions at it to make it an instant success. Clarkson, Hammond & May('s names) are obviously connected to it, then they've gone after the evo lot and 'influencers' with zillions of followers on IG and YouTube. I've no doubt it'll attract plenty of people but it feels a little too synthetic to me.

PH and Drivetribe are two different platforms so if anything I think they may compliment each other. It's entirely feasible that PH could set up their own tribe as part of their marketing activities and it will be interesting to see how that sort of thing pans out.

Think of it as Facebook for cars but without annoying people filling your feed with pictures of their dinner.

Wow, does anyone on Pistonheads 'not' have a tribe?!

I'm in the club too...

I thought DriveTribe doesn't let you promote anything commercial?

I'm surprised that PH aren't seeing it as a threat, or maybe I'm just hoping they use it as motivation to up their game with getting the forum working as it should.

I think you need to have signed up a few months ago in order to get the early invite,
I did and just noticed it in my emails, have logged into it and it seems ok.

Found plenty of tribes that would interest me so have started following them.
No issue with the Facebook login aspect, people seem to want to protect their login like it's their only child rolleyes

Cross media site connectivity is the future of web use, facebook being the biggest out there means it's a logical choice to use.

I did sign up months ago!
As I said, I signed up on the day they went live on their website and Facebook, how could I have signed up any earlier than that? laugh

Edit:
Just checked my email, I received the email to confirm my sign up on the 30th June, that is the same day they first posted on the Facebook page.

Oh well, its not that important smile

I don't know but now you mention it there are no commercial tribes in the sense of the Official 'Insert Manufacturer' tribe so maybe that's the case but then the GT Spirit website has a tribe which is probably the closest thing on there to PH.

There are certainly no classifieds or forum so no direct competition to PH but I guess it's down to the Haymarket marketing bods to decide.

I received a code, and created a tribe.

However it needs 9 members to be visible, I can invite people but I assume they won't be able to join without a code?

Can someone who has already logged on ask the devs if they are planning to open the site to those of us who don't have facebook? At the minute the car communities sound similar to CarThrottle and I get bored of that quickly because I find myself in a bubble and it's difficult to find good content.

I have a code going spare but it's probably linked to my email account so not sure if it'll work for someone else.

Pretty much. At the moment you need to use the invite button to send invites to people already on the platform. You can send 20 a day. There is also a thread running in the help forum where if you post your details people will join your tribe to get you up to the 10 members.
