Dials and gauges in weird places.
Discussion
Peugeot 208; putting the speedo, rev counter and mileage display above the steering wheel so that they aren't obscured by the wheel, yet when I have tried one, to have the wheel in a comfortable and acceptable position for me, the dials are obscured by the top of the wheel as shown in the picture.
Absolutely pointless design trying to solve a problem but not quite getting there.
As for centre mounted gauges such as speedo etc, I actually like it and I read somewhere; a few years ago, that our eyes focus quicker from looking at centre mounded dials and then back to the road than looking down at the information in front of you and looking back up to the road.

I find them really comfortable in the Primera. It strangely doesn't divert your attention from the road at all, but I'm one of these people who's steering wheel always blocks the gauges. smithyithy said:
The 'new' new Mini has moved the speedo dial back behind the steering wheel.
What I like about it though, as that the gauge cluster is fixed to the steering wheel, so adjusting the wheel height doesn't obstruct your view of the dials.
Slightly O/T but I love the way the rev counter points to "Off"......just in case you were wondering! What I like about it though, as that the gauge cluster is fixed to the steering wheel, so adjusting the wheel height doesn't obstruct your view of the dials.
