Matt black wheels with nice wide open spokes are pretty easy and don't show the dirt so you don't have to be spotless. Wheels stay clean longer if you can clean the "back" bit of the wheel as well.

White wheels are the biggest pain I've had this side of wire mesh wheels, these were fitted to my Ibiza Cupra:

A pain to clean because of the style, and the white just made it ten times worse.

They are all the same, think you have it clean then move the car and there is a bit you missed, I now roll mine forward as part of the process anticipating that annoying telltale black slurge.

FFS. You'd need a toothpick to click inside each screw head.

Yep, utter ball ache. Must find a better sealant to make it easier in future. Look nice though!

Twists on my 996 are super easy to keep clean... smooth finish, and the gap between the spokes is big enough to get your hand through to clean the inner surfaces.

The Alfa Brera wheels look horrible to clean

I had these wheels and can confirm that they took an age to clean properly!!

- that said, the front of the spokes were flat, so the wheels could made made to look quite presentable in about 30 seconds

Slightly OT, but have you got one of these?: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Alpina-wheel-hub-cov...

Really useful for removing and fitting the centre-caps, as takes the pressure off the lock. Seller was decent to deal with too when I bought mine

Best wheel cleaner I found is neat Flash liquid.

I used it on the inside of the glass of my woodburning stove with great success, so I thought, if it can shift burnt wood and coal carbon off the glass, what'll it be like on brake dust?

Result!! ..and only £2.99 for 2 litres.thumbup

I appreciate that it would only hurt a petrolheads credibility if his buddies knew he was using Flash, so best to decant it into an Meguires bottle first! laugh ..and don't get me started on the excellent finish on a tyre that you get from Cherry Blossom shoe polish! laugh

I never found them too bad actually, as the gaps were wide enough to get the end of the cleaning cloth into

Worst By Far;

Easiest. Half the time you can just pressure wash all the crud off.
