It's the bell-end behind the wheel that's the issue. Stereotyping isn't getting us anywhere. You've proven that by this debate that, quite frankly, gets done to death.
Surely the issue is why do so many bell-ends gravitate to certain cars? It does happen, I'm absolutely convinced of that. smile
There will be a degree of confirmation bias, but when did anyone ever see anyone climb out of a Vectra and think "he looks like a nice guy, I'd like to go for a beer with him"

Never. That's when.

This morning driving to work I was behind a queue of traffic at a mini roundabout with only a left or a right turn.

All cars managed to negotiate this with either a right or left indicator except the car in front. A BMW.

That's the surprising part.

Hardly anyone indicates properly at roundabouts no matter what car they're driving.

The sooner someone cracks automatic indicators the better.

Not because I'm lazy and can't be bothered...just 90% of other drivers are.

My theory is that the less interest you have in driving, the worse you will be at it. Buying a Vauxhall is a clear statement that you have no interest in driving.

Good to see there is no negativity towards Mercedes drivers.

I'm not that old you whippersnapper! Sitting there in your fair trade jeans, drinking a skinny flaccid chai macchiato, reading the latest copy of ZooNuts and judging us! When I was your age all I had was some hand me down jeans, Tetley, and my imagination.

Sorry but I never thought that about a man, even when I drove an MX5.

Never!!!! , over the years certain cars become fashionable and gain a certain image the sheeple buy into this, at the moment Audi but it was BMWs that were driven by the slightly aggressive ladder climber sort of selfish boreish people who play football on a saturday or yell at their kids when they play in the junior league , they work in some high pressure office job that pays ok, live in a modern box on some estate... they think they are more important than others are so driving agressively comes as no surprise ....

As someone else so eloquently put it, it's all arse gravy. Most marques have their share of idiots whether it's the OAP not paying attention, the young mother who hasn't a clue how to drive properly, or the young lad / mid life crisis who can't bear to concede a car length in the 'queue' to someone else. Meh. I just worry about driving properly myself and the rest can do as they please because they don't get the opportunity to bother me because of it.

nothing wrong with stereotypes, as they are merely an exaggerated or cartoonesque version of the truth. But the truth is there. Thus, Mercedes less aggressive than Audi and BMW, though latter is now in so many niches, it makes generalisation harder!

Love this thread - like shooting fish in a barrel

SO BMW X1 this morning, 65 reg, woman driver, m4 junc 16. Too important to queue in the correct lane with everyone (6-7 cars) so its down the outside of the queue, no indicators push in by the nice red sports car by driving at it. Then when you've succeeded and annoyed the driver behind, no point stopping at that red light, you're far too important.

So that's a queue of traffic held up as the sports car had to brake, traffic exiting the motorway had to brake as she flew through the red light, last seen cutting up traffic and tailgating heading towards Bristol

You're proving my point. The focus will lie with the car and not the driver. The driver should be the focus here and not the car.

Really, Mercedes, usually taxi's therefore the bane of the earth. Audi/BMW and Mercedes all on cheap lease deals. It's a demographic you are looking at not generalisations.

Audi drivers definitely live up to their reputation as the new wkers of the road as far as I'm concerned, I live on a narrow country lane which gets quite busy with tourists going to the local beach in the season and requires a bit of consideration anf courtesy from drivers when passing each other.
I can guarantee that 95% of the tts that come barrelling straight down the middle of the road expecting you to get right out of the way for them are tourists driving Audi estates.
