I had an 8 aswell.

But only because I couldn't afford the one I wanted.....

confused Tommy Maks are cheaper than Evo VIIIs and considerably cheaper than Evo 8 MRs. Unless of course you specifically mean a red one, in which case they have only very recently exploded in price.

Oh my vote goes for the Evo VIII, I wanted a yearned for once since seeing the Top Gear where the FQ400 gives the Murci a bloody nose cloud9

is Haldex 4wd ? or does it get through on a technicality ?
Pedant.

tongue out

I accept it won't be AWD all of the time however the requirements list "Must be AWD of some kind" not "Must have permanent AWD". The Haldex system can shift power so that all wheels are powering the car - the car therefore does have an AWD system of some kind.

Not sure if any deliveries made yet but can't be far off and should be "in production"

Does it matter if the car was permanent 4WD to count? The R33 GT-R I am sure was adaptive and drove in RWD more often than 4WD depending on the conditions?
The R32 GT-R was the only one with no pre-loading on the 4WD system. They are all very rear wheel biased.

Seeing as nobody has posted a picture of a road-going one yet, here's a picture of mine:

So many good cars already mentioned, my personal choices are:

MK1 Impreza - I remember around 2001 a builder who was doing some work on our house had one. I was 13 at the time and it was my favourite car at the time. My step dad had a word with mr builder and he took me out in it and gave it the absolute beans all they way up to 150, oh the joy!

RS4 Avant B7 - Ever since seeing the saloon featured on Top Gear I was hooked, I said to myself I will own one at some time in my life. Over the last few years I have got a thing for fast estates, so the Avant gets my vote. Its still sitting on the bucket list hopefully not for much longer!

I thought the r32 and r33 had identical gearboxes and attesta pump. My 205 4x4 pug has r33 gtr box and I am certain it is identical to r32 albeit with cooling as mine is an r.

I was so excited to write '"win" that I clicked the RS 200 and not this....not a bad mistake but as I own a t16 4x4 homage I want this to win

Personally I would hunt down a low mileage absolutely mint one of these, as to me they are the original and the best GTR.
Always remember watching the Tooheys 500 at Bathurst when one of these seemed to do a bit of sandbagging before making it's way slickly, and quickly, through the field.

Impreza S202, a limited run of 400 were made. A lighter faster Impreza.

This was the best colour they did the S202 in, beat the white, blue and black hands down smile and I remember there being one of these in Ashton Under Lyne back in 2002/3 when they came out (in this colour biggrin )

To add to the list...

Subaru Impreza STI Spec C & Spec C RA.

Fantastic performance car and it took you back to basics for driving, owned 2 and loved them both smile but times move on unfortunately frown

I have had a few 4WD cars over the years now most of which have been mentioned.

The Evo IV was the first and they were known for crank walk and a little bit bland looks.

Evo VII I always preferred the looks of over the VIII due to the front bumper triangle bit they introduced, both were absolutely great fun in any conditions though and the initial oomph was something else.

The GTO was an absolute hoot to drive but for a totally different reason to the Evo's, it was huge and had crap tyres that it came with, it just slid everywhere if you were on the power, great fun but not very fast

R32 Golf, it looked great and after a good while getting used to how to keep it on song it went surprisingly well, brilliant car in the wet

Audi S4 V8, returned to trader after 3 weeks, need I say more?

Current RS4, such a good car for a family which does well at doubling up as a hooning machine. You have to be going silly speeds though to get it to really come alive. The soundtrack is something else as is the brakes, by far the best on any car I have owned

To summarise, the fastest on take off was the Evo's, best handling and interior has to be the RS4, most rewarding to drive when you get it right was the Golf, best slow speed fun was the GTO.
All cars excluding the S4 I owned for at least a year usually a lot more and some were owned at the same time.

Which cars do I miss most for sheer fun? Got to be the 205's

Mazda 6mps. Certainly not the best 4wd ever made. It's never going to compete with a Lambo, but for everyday usability and all-round capability this was probably my favourite 4wd ever. Should probably make it to the top 90 smile

Because in a top 100, it'd be right at the end. Behind 99 Delta integrales if nothing else. smile
