RE: McLaren F1: You Know You Want To
Discussion
Cars like F1s get investors moist;and to maintain the moistness the cars are cared for far better than the owner's children. This includes , obviously , not being driven at all but occasionally being taken by one's white overalled flunkey to some hideous event called a Style et Luxe or similar . This will be attended by the freeloading and intensely irritating Robert Coucher (of Octane magazine ), a long retired racing driver droning on endlessly about 'crumpet' , a minor royal, some Russian oligarchs and sundry Eurotrash .
It's all enough to turn one into a class warrior Corbynista ..
But there's hope - I cherish the memory of seeing Rowan Atkinson's F1 in a race paddock, grimy and with one passenger seat covered in sandwich wrappings and a rumpled copy of The Times. And a visit to any VSCC meeting restores my equilibrium- million quid Bugattis , well patinated , sometimes having been driven on the road to get to the race meeting and then having their arses seriously ragged on track. Respect ...and the bonus is - no fking Coucher(circuit catering not quite au point for a man of such taste and breeding ) .

Central driving position and size/weight with the cgt considerably larger and fully fuelled probably 200+kg heavier (can't remember what flemke said his car was with all fluids) which is a lot. The cgt comes as close to the F1 as any car probably can but it just isn't the car that the F1 is.smithyithy said:

Yes, given the chance.
Ditto. It's probably the only car I'd spend daft money on if I won something like the Euromillions.A pistonheader is doing just that and its going to be unbelieveable im sure.
Although he also has an F1 anyway

This is obviously a lot of people's dream car. But probably a half million pound dream car.
Would anyone actually spend £15m on one? Say you got a huge euromillions win?
£15m!? Thats insane.
Because at this level it's no longer a car it's something to invest your money into (while owning something special and very sought after). No different to a Van Gough or a bottle of 1947 Chateau Chaval Blanc.Would anyone actually spend £15m on one? Say you got a huge euromillions win?

As stated above for something to actually drive I'd much rather spend £500K on a Carerra GT.

Fair play. Id have a P1 GTR and make it road legal for a third of the money.

Is the owner of 16R on here too or did I confuse that with AutomotiveForums?

First road going P1 Gtr was on twitter this morning, cant find it now. Exhaust looks laughably bad, I can't imagine its meant to be that way.
Exhaust is as it should be.Have you ordered one ?

I guess the GTR version has less confines when it comes to asthetics, noise, emissions etc. Performance is where its at. Still looks odd though. Oh well, I wont have to worry about it.
Have you ordered one ?
Yes, bought one earlier this year.Have you ordered one ?
