Am I allowed to post this being non-PH content?

Ford Focus RS
Honda Civic Type-R
Audi RS3
Mercedes-AMG A45
Volkswagen Golf R
Renault Sport Megane 275 Cup-S
Peugeot 308 GTI By Peugeot Sport 270
BMW M135i
Subaru Impreza WRX STI
Seat Leon Cupra 290

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhnyQHRoeao

The Peugeot is not a car that interests me (or interests anyone seemingly) but I have always been surprised at such a power output from a 1.6T.

I wasn't aware the 275 Cup S could be had for so little money! Might have got one over my Polo GTI!

That said it's 5 grand and that's the basic spec but still a bargain if your in the market for one!

You can get them even cheaper than than list too, there were some offered up in the region of 17k new not long ago. When you also consider a few £100 for a remap and you have 300+hp in a very competent FWD chassis you could buy a megane for fun and a decent run about for the price of the 'big boys'.

Some nice cars there. Surprised the 1.6 Pug kicks out so much power, its just a shame about the rest of the car.

I believe it was set under wet conditions hence the 4 wd dominance. I would have expected the cupra and megane to have done better tbh

Hey its a great car! I'm happy with it although I can't seem to get comfy in the seats just yet lol

Quicker than a Golf 6 Gti and same torque as a mk5 R32 but weighing about 300kg less!

The video was a good idea however it wasn't executed particularly well compared with the likes of Evo productions etc.

The initial test was on a track where very few of the cars will end up. It would have been much better to have taken them all to a road circuit and tested them there.

It seems the lap times were in the wet had it been dry I expect the Megane & Cupra would have been sitting at the top of the leaderboard.

And a 150kg advantage. The Merc is properly obese.

I'd suggest the megane was badly driven then. There's a 90bhp difference after all.

I thought the Meg, Cupra and Civic would be faster on track compared with the AWD cars too.

I previously attempted to define hot hatches in another thread as small, fun, lightweight cars, with only three doors. However I was shot down by 99% of PH. So clearly the times have changed and things have moved on. There is no point me fighting the tide of opinion any longer. So I am now in agreement with the new definitions. As one poster summed up previously; "If it's hot and it's a hatchback, then it's a hot hatch". Much simpler and more inclusive.

So now that the term "hot hatch" can be freely applied to cars with any BHP, weight, price, number of doors, plus dimensions (so long as the body shell is the small or medium size that manufacturer offers with four seats for the family), then I humbly submit my top three hot hatches of all time, in accordance with PH's agreed rules...

1. Ferrari FF

6.3 NA V12, 650bhp, AWD, 0-60mph 3.7s, 208mph hatchback.

2. Porsche Panamera Turbo S

TT V8, 550bhp, AWD, 0-60mph 3.3s, 192mph hatchback.

3. Tesla Model S

Electric, 762bhp, AWD, 0-60mph in 2.8s, 155mph hatchback.

Happy days biggrin

Those cars aren't small or medium sized. They are all large cars.

Just give it up and move on! tongue out
