Don't feed one of PH's resident trolls.

You could buy a Meg RS CUP-S in white for £17,300 for a few weeks but they're all gone at this price. Actually they're practically all gone full stop (new).

Nothing wrong with your Polo, good little package. Has its strengths, like most cars.

Pardon?

Do you have any reason for the playground insult?

In fairness, he's responding like for like to your comments - 'Nobody cares about your Poolo', whilst undoubtedly clever, is more likely to be heard in the playground I'd have thought.

The Polo is nothing to do with this test. It may well be a decent car but hearing about it in every thread is getting tiring.

The Poolo comment is just something picked up over the years as friends take the micky out of eachothers cars, (chavs car, sales rep car, old mans car, calling a Fiesta a Fester etc etc) it was not a personal comment attempting to smear a poster.

Giving a car a nickname is not the same as throwing insults at someone. Saying someone has bought a crap hat is not the same as calling them a tosser.

I'd have the Megane,
You do realise it's been heavily updated with a new 1.8 turbo engine (basically a downsized Golf GTI/clubsport/R engine)etc

I only brought the car up as I did originally want a Megane and while browsing review videos I found that in a quarter mile the times weren't all that different which shocked me is all.

The funny thing is, the Megane is over half a second quicker to 60, and is a better drivers car in every sense. The only thing going for the Polio (IMO) is the badge, and frankly I chose performance over aesthetics and what people think of what I drive.

The Polo is fine for it's intended role (A quick-ish hatch) but comparing one to a Megane is like comparing the fat kid at sports day to Usain Bolt.

Nobody really cares, that's the point.

PLLLEAASSEEE stop comparing a Polo to a Megane RS. laughlaugh

It's like comparing a speedboat with a bowling ball.

The dull as dishwater Polo GTI. The choice no one else would consider laugh. They engineered in that thunk sound when you close the door though so therefore must be superior to the commoner Renault/Ford/Peugeot.

Have you even driven one or have you just been listening to the biased ST reviews. It's anything but bland.

The Fiesta would run rings around it as a drivers car and on the road. The Polo's chassis simply doesn't have the composure to live with the ST.. there's a reason it's widely regarded as the best junior hot hatch on sale today.

Personally, if I was in the market for a junior hatch, I'd be really tempted by a 208 GTi.

How would it run rings around it with its less power and torque, thinner tyres and smaller brakes?

With a better chassis and setup.

Also why do you think it has less power? It has 197bhp on overboost and a fair chunk more with the warranty keeping mountune kit. So surely the Polo is less powerful?

Polo has its power all the time and not on over boost and I really can't see the chassis being that much better if I'm honest.

Being able to turn esp off is an advantage I guess but with all the systems on in the Polo there is exactly NO torque steer at all and with 236ib/ft and no fancy diff or revoknuckle type suspension it's pretty impressive imo

A basic chip on the Polo takes it to 230-240bhp no problems. Again more than the Mountune 215 kit
