For absolute bargain basement budget bangering (where purchase price, maintenance cost, repairs and reliability are all factored in), you need to go early 00's small na petrol Japanese.

WELL worth upping the budget to closer to a grand. You will easily spend the difference repairing a £500 basket case - or more if you're unlucky.

This for example will just go on and on and on. Chain driven, so no need to fork out £300 for a timing belt (or play belt roulette)

I hear ya guys. I've already explained to him the ways of the eternal living Japanese stuff. Weirdly there really isn't much around here though. It's all clios and pugs with mil lights on.

No C63s in budget sadly!

There seems to be a good genuine micra available on the board at work. Only 30k odd miles. But he doesn't want a micra grrrrr!
