After someone kindly put an idea in my head on my thread searching for a 6 bar grill, whilst cleaning mine today I had a cunning plan......

What do you think? But squint a little smile

That looks great and even better, you are £600 (ridiculous) better off.

The glass of beer on the floor must have helped. smile

I seem to remember Aston Martin Racing ran a grille like that once.
A long time ago. Think it was the yellow Vantage at Nurburgring called Rose.

Funny how I can recall this Aston stuff, when often I don't know what day it is. Perhaps it is just more interesting.

What is the colour name of your Vantage?

Doesn't look too bad and as said a good way to save on the ludicrous price of the AM six bar grill.

Laser blue for the Exige on the other side of the garage? Lovely little stable you have there.

Thanks guys. I was pleasantly surprised how good it looked. And even better it's completely reversible if I changed my mind.

So, do I remove the slats or just spray every other one with Matt black plastidip? If I can remove the slats with no detrimental effect, ie if I put them back they're lose, then I'll just remove the slats.

Meteorite Silver by the way. Metallic grey in lay men's terms smile

Ok, removed the slats and..... well can't think of any other way to describe it but you can see what the poor girl had for breakfast! Bit to aggressive looking for my liking, so reverted to plan B, matt black plastidip. Great stuff this in that its a doddle to spray on and being rubbery, it just peels off. Started doing them now. They need 4 coats with 30mins between coats, so it's going to take a few hours, by which point it'll be dark. But I'll take some pictures tomorrow. For now here are some pictures of her showing her wares.......

wow, that looks really cool. reminds me of the general styling of the DBR1's grille, as the slats are so far apart.

Different, but it just reminds me that it's very hard to change the original design and look good. Everything else is a lesser compromise.

Sorry for the delay in putting these up..... been out enjoying the BH weekend rather than p!ssing about uploading pictures on Photobucket and posting them on here wink

So here is the final article. Pleased with the result, Jury is still out on whether I prefer it this way or not. But easily reversible as the paint just peels off.

And a couple in daylight.....

Thanks guys

Very straight forward to do. Slats come out easy enough and spraying with plastisol is very easy, as it's so think you'd really have to go overboard to get runs. Just follow the steps on the can and you'll get good results. And if you dint just peel off and start again biggrin
