Quite a bargain I'd say at £700! Those carpets look very clean for 120,000 miles - so maybe it really has done 20,000.

Didnt realise it only had 20k on it, thats not bad then, but the wear on the drivers seat makes me think thats not right as old datsuns tend to wear better internally than externally hehe mine was just about 5 years old when i bought it and it needed new front wings even at that age, rust on a scale even Alfa Romeo of the time would be proud of biggrin

It does have some rust on the doors and some light surface rust on the bonnet but it has been treated underneath in the past so it's mint underneath. I will see how I get on with it. I may just tidy up the bottom of the doors. Also came with some fury dices hanging from the rear view mirror. biggrin

laugh Atleast 10 times on the way home. Also pulled out the cigarette lighter instead of the choke lever a few times while driving uphill.

You're going to have a problem now because once you've got used to having the indicators on the right side on a RHD car, the left feels wrong forever more. biggrin

It might only be 20k (or 120k), but it IS 34yo - that driver's seat looks more like age-rotted foam than wear on the material.

Excellent purchase OP. Who cares if you got robbed for £700.
Any car could throw up a bill for £700 it the first year of ownership.
You have a tidy retro car.
( Unless you don't like blue, in which case you have made one almighty fkup)

Yep, we used to have an absolutely horrendous Hyundai Matrix auto at work with indicators on the right. Along with its armrest attached to the left of the seat it made for very lazy one handed driving!

OP, I love it!

For the fun you are going to have, £700 was a steal.

Why is the issued date stamp April 1979...?
Even if it was 1980, the car was only registered in Sept.

It should be possible ascertain mileage just by things like pedal rubbers, steering wheel wear etc. Pads and plugs still original Jap issue, that sort of malarky. I know things can be renewed but a 20k mileage wear is difficult to replicate/fake and why bother anyway?

I think you've done a blinder on that one, chap. clap

It's because the clocks only go up to 100ksmile. So it could have gone right back round.

I wonder if any odometers ever had 6 figures back in those days. Must have been some? Hmmm..

That's a good idea for another thread.

What car bits are in your loft?
