We're on that smile

I got the windscreen replaced, tomorrow a mobile mechanic comes round to sort out some rattles, and it will be ready for Auto Trader.

Two more annoyances - lack of a cup holder and lack of Aux In to connect the phone.

But it was worth it, to see what it's like. Boys and their toys.

When this sells we'll get a new kitchen for the laydee.
Cup Holder is next to the Glovebox depending on if the first owner ticked the box otherwise it's about £300 to retrofit.

Or in the glovebox lid (found mine in the SL last week).

Aux in is easy to retrofit.

Top down stuff is an altogether more intimate experience , primarily as you are a part of where you are and not watching it spool by as you listen to the radio and adjust the aircon. That can be a good thing if you are on the Ring Road in Leeds (other crappy roads are available )but not so good if you are in the country - especially mountainous areas where no roof gives you better views. Better smells too, wild garlic in the river valleys in Spring is lovely and very little beats the smell of peatsmoke in the Highlands , or the smell of cooking bacon anywhere . You are alive to every nuance of temperature and shade (huge variations in the former at dawn and dusk ) and if your car is as noisy as mine you will exercise restraint where needed and try to wake the dead elsewhere.

Colds? Get a bloody grip. The problem is spending too much time indoors and not enough time getting cold , wet and/or sunburned.

Mini Cooper S is a blast, you can fit two adults in the back, it's quick, you can easily service it yourself (as long as you get that huge socket for the oil filter,) and cheap'ish it sure.

Some promised pictures smile

I had a look at the cupholder - my car has the ashtray thing in there instead ;-(

The mechanic just went home - Handbrake now works, window rattle is gone, parking sensors disconnected (stopped beeping, finally).

Ok, it's on Autotrader now. Somehow with the hectic life (two small kids) it's not that often that we can use it like it's meant to be used.

A quick update.

Surprisingly enough, I discovered, that using my bicycle gives me much more pleasure than driving the CLK with top down :-)

The wind is not too much.

The butt is happier (going slower over bumps).

Kids don't scream at the back.

And doesn't blow my ear drums on the motorway wink

Plus, it's quieter, and the vision isn't constrained as in a car wink

So, the CLK is now reduced to clear wink
