Such as? There are no volume cars that won't get scrapped in the future. Spend 50 grand on a Discovery, Range Rover, X5 or whatever and one day it will be driven onto the weigh bridge at the scrap yard and weighed in. No ifs, no buts.
Classic Range Rovers aren't doing too badly value wise, even wrecks are at a grand or two with decent examples going for much more.
How many were built and how many are left? Most have been scrapped, you know that, I know that, the OP knows that.

I'm planning to keep my P38 4.6
Vogue until it dies. Which will never ever happen, thanks to a full restoration that will soon take place. No, not even how many air suspension faults it throws up on me biggrin

Whatever. It's irrelevant to the question...you know that.

I love my P38.... they are going for good money and are sub £2k for the sheddiest dodgiest examples. You are right. Hardly any are going to the scrapyard and it was an irrelevant question.

Go on then, buy a new X5, this time next year it will be worth much less than you bought it for and one day it will be scrapped. All cars depreciate. If you don't like depreciation, either lease or buy a snotter.

The Audi SQ5 seems a popular choice around my way.

Probably the best looking of the standard soft roaders and basically disposable. I wouldn't even bother with the 4wd which is really just additional weight.

Or for something that doesn't depreciate, an old Rangie.

Those are probably the two logical ways to try and swerve depreciation.

I would have thought a Range Rover Evoque would be right up there?

eta: just noticed you asked for 'big' - maybe not a relevant option then.

Maybe I should have been more specific smile

I'm looking for something with manufacturers warranty.
I don't expect zero depreciation, I would just like to minimise it.
I'm open on petrol or diseaseal but would like to get 25+ mpg urban.
Definitely no 4 pot engines.

I'm leaning towards X5/6 but would a £40k+ Cayenne or RRS depreciate significantly less or more?

New jaguar crossover thing? Would have thought demand vs supply would see it ok for 18 months or so?

Why not buy a £35k Cayenne or RRS instead of a £40k? That's £5k of depreciation banked at the outset.

Ive heard the new Porsche Macan has pretty awesome residuals. Also a nice size for school run & not obnoxiously big.

Good call. Could even be free for the first year.

Buy the very best Range Rover Classic you can find. Keep it for a few years and sell it for more than you paid for it. Forget depreciation on these things - values are soaring...

The Jaguar is a good call if you can get hold of one. Other than that, an oil burning V6 RRS in reasonably modest spec but with the seven seat option.
