I'd go for the fiat coupe, preferably a 20v turbo. Although there can't be that many left?
Second choice would be an Alfa Romeo GTV, preferably a V6.
Id only go for the top of the range model on pretty much every car, so it would be the GTV6 or the 20v Coupé Second choice would be an Alfa Romeo GTV, preferably a V6.
Hence why I said the Hyundai 2.7l V6 Siii, or the BRABUS roadster Coupé, or the Cougar V6. The only one I wouldn't go top of the range on is the Crossfire because they're like 10k at the moment

Renault Wind? Get that off your list or i'll come stand by your local road and point and laugh as you go past.
Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo?
Celica GT-Four
Urm.... an old range rover
I need to go back and look at your criteria. I only saw "Renault Wind" and felt compelled to write this.
What's wrong with the Wind? Apart from the obvious poor name choice, it's a good little car I think. Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo?
Celica GT-Four

Subaru Legacy GT (AUTO sadly) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/subaru-legacy-2-0-GT-4wd...
Toyota Altezza RS200 (some just over 5k on ebay, maybe be able to haggle)
Mitsubishi Legnum VR4 (auto is the best one)

for me though as much I like that I'd want a proper Busso V6 and be hunting down one of the late 3.0 GTV cup specials
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alfa-Romeo-GTV-V6-/14198...
That one is over budget but if you're willing to do some work you can pick up one of the final Busso V6 variations that are holding value and are likely to start gaining value for under £5000
156 GTA is also in budget but the GTV has the looks to match the noise
oddball- Subaru SVX 3.3 flat 6 in a weird aircraft inspired body

I don't think Brittish racing green works on an Alfa Romeo, and while the GTV is nice I'd rather have the face-lifted version (please forgive me Alfa fans) plus I'm not sure I like the GTA, Alfa had the best styling in the mid 2000s with the Brera etc for me though as much I like that I'd want a proper Busso V6 and be hunting down one of the late 3.0 GTV cup specials
