Is there anyone else nuts or desperate enough to run a 200k mile daily driver? I do a 100 miles commute in this daily. It doesn't feel like a hardship.....

I did a 100 mile a day commute from 80k to 260k in my old Mercedes V6 - fuel costs aside, it gave me hardly any trouble, save for non genuine water pumps which simply didn't last.

Out of interest what size is your tank, how many litres do you get in it, and what sort of range do you get?

Buying a 200k daily driver is a lot different to running a 200k car that you have had for years.

Agreed. If you've driven and maintained a car properly for 200k miles, I would say you risk a lot less than when you buy a 200k mile car with uncertain history.

I agree. I bought it at 113k 4 years ago. I know all of its foibles.

It takes 60 litres, gives about 280 miles a tank, which means plenty of tedious, cold slow minutes standing by an LPG pump. But I'll forgive it!

Just interested as I don't know how far this will go. It makes perfect sense now, just fill with fuel and waft away, but at some point it will get expensive...

Yup.
OK - I'm 1400 miles shy...but every single thing in the car works flawlessly.

I have a BMW 520d Touring which is just over 3.5 years old and about to go through 160,000 miles. It's a company car that I've had from new. Suspect it will get close to 200,000 miles before it goes back given the delivery schedules for its 330e replacement. The joys of a 160 mile daily commute...

How exciting! I got very childish about passing 200k, even videoed it (safely!). Enjoy!

Thing is... I bought this barge to keep in the drive to deter burglars ( as we got broken into ) until the CCTV and monitored alarm was installed.

But... it was much more comfortable than everything else we had.... It has become the daily drive.

I bought my 2 year old F31 320d with just 25,000 miles last year.

One year later I added 31,000 on top and in the next month I'll finally hit 100,000km or 62k miles.

I plan to keep the car about four years so it'll just have shy of 150k (miles), when I finally sell it thanks to my daily 120 mile round commute.

Apart from tyres and brakes it's been perfect. Fingers crossed it stays this way!

I love seeing threads like this as I'm venturing into higher mileages cars as day to day cars.

I currently own a Saab 9-3 with 140k on the clock and am looking at E-Class Mercs to replace it (purely as I fancy one) and they're 100k upwards. Great to see many cars doing double that mileage!
