Living in Lincolnshire for the last 4 months, I have seen the Typhoon flying over my house on many occasions - normally at a pretty decent height.

About an hour or so ago I had 2 fly over my garden, at very hight speed, at what looked like around 200 feet. I have never seen them that low - it was a fantastic sight and I really wished I'd had a camera.

But at what height would they have been as I guess my 200ft may be wishful thinking?

Outside of the TTAs (Tactical Training Areas) and outside of Controlled Airspace, minimum height is 250ft MSD (Minimum Seperation Distance).

Thanks. Is there a map of TTA's or do these change as I\d love to know where they are in relation to me? I bloody nearly ducked when I saw the first one suddenly appear over the trees smile

500ft is actually a lot lower than you would think when you look up

I'm sure, and hence the question, as I think my perception is affected by excitement smile

Roughly where are you Gary? A good place for watching stuff is here:

Just had a Tornado firing flares, Typhoon earlier and A400M and Globemaster last week doing the same.

I'm at PE10 0AB near Bourne.

I'm now actually thinking they were Tornados (I discounted to start with as I've never seen them around here).

The three TTA are:
LFA 7(T) LFA 14(T) LFA 20(T)
- Central Wales
- Northern Scotland
- the borders area of Southern Scotland and Northern England

They don't get used as much as people would expect.

If it had been the ones who did the sonic boom at 250 ft distance it might have hurt a bit!

Quite. I'd be posting in the health section on how to fix exploded ears wink

Almost the whole of the UK is covered by the UKLFS (UK Low Flying System) - the green areas on the map.

The 3 TTAs are marked in red.

I'm sure someone will be along shortly to post the timetable. Don't pay too much attention to it if you do want to make a trip but your best bet would be the Mach loop in Wales.

Which reminds me, I saw a Tornado heading along Loch Ness at low level last week (though not fast).

Great map GG, thanks

Not low but the opposite we had two pairs of very high fast jets blatting across the clear blue yesterday

Looked as if en route to East Angular from Wales mid morning

Four beautiful offset parallel lines, two and two -

Nice sight for Brum

Typhoons come over my office on the way down from the North York Moors where they do quite a bit, not terribly low but fast enough to shake the place, it's brilliant.

There is nothing like having the peace and solitude of a clear day in the mountains absolutely shattered by a fast jet parting your hair. I've wittered on about it before, but the Tornado that rolled over the top of Ben Arthur to pull down to the loch remains one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
