What makes you nervous as a driver?
Discussion
Nervous drivers. Those that slow down for every bend.......whilst only doing 40 in an NSL road. Those that brake whenever another vehicle comes towards them. Those that hit the brakes in the dark whenever they see headlights approaching. Those that can't overtake unless they are on a DC....and then stay in outside lane for 5 miles !
Those that hit the brakes when you start to overtake despite there being nothing else on the road for the next million miles !
You all know the ones

When I'm at the back of a queue of traffic, and the car behind either;
a) seems to be really late on the brakes coming up behind or
b) stops what appears to be about a metre away from my rear bumper
c) both of the above at the same time
.. especially at the top/bottom of a motorway/DC exit slip, if they get shunted then there's no space for them to stop again and it's going to smash up my car. I always leave a gap in front of me if I'm joining a queue of traffic, just incase the numpty behind doesn't stop in time or shunts me, I have space available without crashing into someone else. Eyes are always in the rear view mirror to make sure the car behind looks like they're slowing down accordingly and if not, I have an escape route. Then I watch the car behind them, to make sure they don't punt the first one into me and so on.

Middle age posh woman in any 4 x 4. They have no idea how to steer or park the dam things, worse they can't overtake. Had one tailgate me for miles on an empty dual-carriageway with no junctions in sight. It wasn't until I slowed to less than 30 mph she actually went by. I assumed she was too busy worrying about where to buy the next industrial tub of make-up or how to empty husbands bank account.

My girlfriend has an annoying habit of making 'surprised' sounds when she is reading Facebook on her phone as I drive along, such as an audibly sharp intake of breath when she reads how so-and-so has broken up with so-and-so.
It always makes me think I have missed something important, as if we are about to have a crash! Is she just odd or does anyone else have passengers who do similar?
This, my other half drives me mad doing this!It always makes me think I have missed something important, as if we are about to have a crash! Is she just odd or does anyone else have passengers who do similar?

Deer at the side of the road always gives me a shiver, they are big and tend to jump towards the road when startled. There has been a few accidents over the years amongst friends hitting them head on, neither the car nor the deer comes off well.
The closest I came was clipping a stag's back leg years ago and sent it spinning, it got up and took off thankfully and had left a minor mark in the bumper of a MK2 Sirocco. Scary stuff knowing that a second or two's difference and I would most likely have had a written off car and potential injury
