Company cars, 'cheap' leases, gifts, inheritance.... Lots of reasons why people may have cars that seem expensive.

also if average wage is circa 30 then there are lots of people earning more. I would say most cars I see are relatively less expensive, they just go unoticed.
That's because I was raised to buy things in cash. My old man even told me I should only buy a house in cash. Tried that with my first property but the market moved too fast meaning I had to get small 20% mortgage on a 5 bed house.

I know very little about car financing until recently. Didn't even know what the 3 meant in a 3x 36m payment quote.

That's not an answer though is it.
He means he filled it with petrol
It's now worth £100
I didn't provide a specific answer because I know the replies it would get just like my 6 fig salary statement. Didn't want to say that but wanted to put into context how most people earning less than average salary are comfortable spending the way they do on a monthly lease. Just look at all the new cars outside terrace houses.

You was looking at more than 10% Net in the other thread though ? 40k loan..
Looking at the posting history our friend also claims to own 5 houses as well although not through buy to let.

5 houses, current car doubled in value yet asking how does HP work and how does he finance his car? Does not compute.

OP - presumably your man sausage is the size of baby's forearm and you once beat Chris Gofffey at an arm wrestle??

And for the avoidance of doubt: protocol here is to call us all jealous and leave coming back claiming your former self was a great guy who fixes elderly people's radios for free, feeds Africa etc .
Very true. Or he gets his "mate" to come on and fight his corner. What's the betting the OP won't return?

That doesn't make any sense, property purchases for cash move much faster as you don't have to have the requisite searches etc... done as that's a requirement of the mortgage/financier ... My wife and I used to have a reasonable property portfolio until 18mths ago when we cashed out due to tenant hassle etc...
and I previously personally bought 2 properties for cash (very cheap, <£18k each, although the amount is irrelevant) both completed end to end within 96hrs

Why wouldn't I return?

I didn't expect real answers from this post as I suspect most are spending way over 50%.

You'd need a pretty big income to spend 50% of it on cars and still be able to live somewhere and eat. hehe

I don't have an answer because I paid cash for both of our cars.

My leased car (that I use for business) costs me less than my nett car allowance.

I gain 8% on top of my ( oh the shame, can't believe I'm typing this) five figs salary by doing this.

Last time I checked I can't get an 8% return in an ISA.

Plus the last time I checked with Coutts I can't stick my toolbox in the back of an ISA and drive to Germany in it.

Why do you think that? What cars and earnings do you have in mind to come up with that percentage?

Yeah I buy all my properties cash and only invest in appreciating cars. Examples? Lol how gauche I am so far above "facts" it's ridiculous. Anyway I'm 50 and lived with my dad until last year and do not know the touch of a woman but that isn't really relevant.

Now we have got the formalities out of the way, what are these 2 cars you speak of. This is a car forum so we are interested in cars that are going up in value.

Does your 6 figure annual salary include any decimal points?

Eh? fk off you silly little nob.

Stop acting as if you're the wealthiest and most successful individual on here - you're not. You seem to inhabit a place where everything you do in a financial sense is correct and where anything anyone else does differently is wrong. People like you aren't liked on here so go and spout your st somewhere else.

Haha, perfectly said.

What an absolutely arrogant, ignorant and insular thinking fool he comes across as.

I bet he is only just hit that six figure salary this week, probably came on here after celebrating his pay rise, with a few sherbets and a bag of Peruvien courage and will regret it all in the morning.
Then again, he might just be a .
