I wouldn't go that far. I didn't start the thread saying why aren't Panamera diesels £15k yet!?
True, you don't want the moon on a stick. smile The problem is that you want what other people do, and enough of them are prepared to pay.

Last suggestion from me... I'm not sure if these quite hit 200bhp, I think maybe they do, I think they look great with the right trim level...

Mazda 6 Derv Sport Auto.
175ps so a little down on power.
Nicely within budget, current shape and sensible spec.

Or put your funds in premium bonds until Mondeo Vignale's fall to £15k.

Then don't spend £15k this time either. Seriously there must be hundreds of suitable cars you can afford.

Just because something is affordable, doesn't necessarily mean it appeals.

Mazda is of no interest whatsoever.

I walk past several Vignale's everyday and they look very nice, but I don't want another Ford just because I have one now.

I think the discussion can stop now, I feel like I'm entering that territory of being that guy that starts a whatcar thread and has an excuse to dismiss everything that is suggested and just annoys the contributors.

This thread has confirmed what I thought at the start and what some people have picked up on. There isn't anything on the used market up to £15k that will do a better enough job than the focus I already have for me to actually want it. Thanks very much for all your suggestions!

Not an option unfortunately, "work" is in constantly changing location.

Keep the Focus and spend some money on some PH-worthy activities such as Rent-Racecar at the Ring, some track tuition etc.

Spending your own money on something fast/nice for doing huge motorway miles in doesn't make sense.

Yes, stick with a tool that's fine for the job for now. Otherwise you'll end up with something that will always kinda feel "meh" and you will wonder if it was really worth the money.

Never mind sensible, get something with more than 4 petrol fuelled cylinders, and convert it to LPG. 50p/litre, better octane if you have a knock sensor, marginally worse consumption, and better resale value.
