Hey guys, I went past a transport police scotland van today on the hard shoulder with yellow flashing lights.

Couldn't actually tell if this is a speeding camera van as it had a small camera on the top of it rather than out the back.

Anybody able to give any insight? Cheers

Transport police deal with public transport, usually trains.

Sounds like he was broken down on the hard shoulder.

I'm beginning to doubt myself now. The van was all yellow down the side, no blue. And had 2 sets of yellow flashing lights on the roof.

The van you saw was most likely a Transport Scotland van. They monitor traffic at peak times and attend crashes/breakdowns etc.

In any case speedo 60 is likely to be a few mph less true so I'd say on balance don't worry.

I see these all the time (Glasgow area) sitting in the police "ramps" in the hard shoulder. They seriously piss me off because everyone slows down to 20% below the limit...
1) They are really obviously NOT a police camera van.
2) Even if they are, why do you need to go slower than the limit??

And 100% of the time when you overtake the idiots that have slowed down, they speed up again as soon as they get past the van and leave you out in the overtaking lane ranting

This was in Scotland though. The Police were meant to be sending warnings to people even a couple mph over the limit starting from autumn last year and if you got more than 1 then a fine would be on its way to you in the post. Does anybody know if they did do this as I haven't heard of anybody at all receiving a warning for 52 in a 50, 73 in a 70, etc.?
