5.7 litres is a small block and not an entry ticket into the muscle car crowd
I didn't think the capacity of the engine necessarily meant it could be defined as small block / big block. As in aren't there some small blocks with larger capacities than some big blocks?5.7 litres is a small block and not an entry ticket into the muscle car crowd

Classier than a Bentley as everyone thinks it is just a Mondeo, thus allowing your wealth to truly whisper.
Not sure anyone would think you were wealthy with a 3 grand x type ? Might make you look cock of the local estate, not much else.swerni said:

In which case, can someone explain what the heck the difference is between a small block and a big block? I'm guessing the small block isn't just further away and it sure doesn't seem to relate to capacity.
My understanding was that a small-block engine has the cylinders closer together in the block (i.e. there isn't much metal between the cylinders), but a big-block engine has a sizeable chunk of metal between the cylinders. So, for any given capacity and bore, the big-block block is bigger than a small-block block. ETA: whilst looking for a picture to illustrate this, I found this chap has already done a whole YouTube video about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPZuEWli4gQ
