Not bigoted at all.

Just reading that Government grants are being used to curtail women's rights leaves me a little depressed.

No but you have to pretend not to see it. They are beyond criticism and as such even mentioning things happening makes you an islamophobic biggot. HTH

Can you clarify how posting a link to a report about what some organisation or other suggests is bigoted?

47.9 miles? I've heard of range anxiety, but that's ridiculous.

Not too surprising. My home town, though I'll never go back. FUBAR.

No, it's a random group of self-important people who nobody actually has to listen to. No more than that.

And yet linking to a news item about it makes him a bigot?

Got the balls to apologise to him?

It does make this school's sexism efforts look a bit tame.

Out of order. OP has not specified a horse in this race so to call him a Bigot for the link is over the top regardless of what you feel about the inevitable path the imminent discussion is about to take.

You ought to apologise for this response really. Its a bit OTT.

If calling out vile backwards women haters makes one a bigot, put me down for a dozen.

The linked article is at best misinformed, at worst deliberately missing out information. The Q&A section of the website was quoting what the Qur'an states i.e. that women shouldn't travel more than three days without a male escort. It didn't state that was the BMA's position - just what the Qur'an says - which was the norm for the time. The 47.9 miles quote is the estimate of how long one might walk for three days.

The various newspaper reports have picked this up and then said this must be what the BMA thinks - when they were merely answering a question as to what the Qur'an says on this issue.

And for those people who want to jump on the bandwagon about how "backwards" the Qur'an is, this is interesting viewing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atvMky3ZNE0

We do live in a secular society don't we? I don't see the article saying that anyone actually does this?

I am not sure you can say that. Muslims in that town will listen to what this organisation says. These tend to be very religious people that listen to what their religious leaders / groups ay.

We dismiss it as we don't listen to what the Church says but these people live a different life to you and I.

To play this down seems to ignore what Trevor Phillips said - and he knows far more about "race" issues than we do.

Yes giving a random distance seems silly, but I know of adult muslim women who were not allowed to go on a holiday to Spain unless their brother went with them.
