Got one for the other half a couple of months ago, but I can keep on borrowing it. A very capable little hot hatch, had to be orange though

Does it have any steering feel, or is it just another quick modern car with numb steering?

Thre aren't loads of feeling but at least it is properly weighted (not too light or artificially heavy).

And the LSD makes a great difference compared to the competition.

Very interesting, great to see a hot hatch review which has enthusiasm again. But ptw looks pretty carp. She'd more weight and black wheels are horrible. I'm old

I thought there was something fishy about it.

According to the Pug site - The kerb weight of the New 208 GTi is just 1,160 kg, giving it an excellent weight/power ratio of 5.58 kg/hp.

There PDF states a full tank - http://www.peugeot.co.uk/media/new-peugeot-208-pri...
So 1,235kg with driver.

You can imagine the comments if it came in at say 1,050kg though... Well it's bound to fall to pieces etc.

So....I can't help wondering, despite the generally positive reviews of the 208 GTi, and plenty of positive comments above.....why do they seem to be so rare on the roads?

Fiesta ST's are literally everywhere, but very few people in the real world seem to be tempted by the Pug??

I'd imagine the cold facts are price, the extra £4k is a big %age of the Fiesta price. That puts a fair few of them in the hands of customers who aren't really hot hatch fans but like the looks. I've yet see one being 'put through it's paces.' Of course they will be those who use them as intended. I think you have to really want then 208/not follow the crowd to pay the extra. I had a 205 GTi 1.9 & a GTi 6 back in the day so it's nice to see Peugeot getting their sh!t together.

I had the original 208 gti and i found it to have hopeless throttle response and the revs didnt drop quick enough between changes so you couldnt rattle off a few gears quickly without giving some time between to get a smooth change...

Sold it after a few monthes. Love my fast Peugeots and was gutted

I think the proliferation of STs is in no small part due to Ford's friends and family discount schemes. Especially in my neck of the woods, Essex, everybody seems to know someone who works for Ford. In fact I've heard it's one of the first questions a Ford dealer asks a potential customer!

To be fair, it's the same for Peugeot around Coventry. Although a lot of ex Peugeot employees are now at JLR who also do Ford discount.

Thread resurrection! My girlfriends Fiesta ST is going back and she is having a look at these so I'm having a read of these old threads, I just wanted to say that the orange looks awesome imo.

She may struggle then, she's 5ft 2" tall hehe

I didn't think these would stack up well against the Fiesta, humble pie for me.
