And people say the new Boxster sounds crap ?
Sure its a lovely old thing but doesn't grab me much, looks like the offspring of an Elise and an upended tin bath, sacrilegious, yep but just because its old doesn't mean I have to eulogise about it
Despite being around years before the Elise.....Sure its a lovely old thing but doesn't grab me much, looks like the offspring of an Elise and an upended tin bath, sacrilegious, yep but just because its old doesn't mean I have to eulogise about it
but this was the whole function and form ...I think beautiful
but when I had an elise series 1 ...I often wonderd how close they were in driving style and feel
both are very close in size shape , weight , 0 to 60 times , and of course engine size and placement
I would be really interested if anyone can tell me how close they are or miles apart in driving style ?

Seeing them together does make the Boxster look comically fat and ungainly.
The same applies to any modern sports car, to be fair: try putting an Elise next to a Lotus 23, or an MX5 next to an Elan. That doesn't change the fact that Porsche's own advertising video makes their current car look crap, though.

Indeed, even a modern Caterham Seven looks podgy next to an original Lotus Seven.

Yes, I do think they've made the new Porsche look like it's been on the pies, which of course it has. When it overtook the old car on the corner I thought the Boxster might crush the RS without even noticing it!That doesn't change the fact that Porsche's own advertising video makes their current car look crap, though.
Caterham / Lotus, good point, perhaps with the honourable exception of the Caterham 160, which looks very similar in size to a Lotus 7.
