Unfortunately this doesn't happen enough.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/road-and-ra...

The amount of people I see on the motorways or dual carriageways hogging lanes is unreal and doing under the speed limit too. Half of them don't even know its an offence to do it.

Lazyness is the key here, just drive straight until you get where you need to get off because you can't be a*sed to change lane as you need to concentrate to do that.

I have. Because I'm driving it. If I'm not in a hurry to get somewhere, what's the point in driving at ten-tenths down the most boring roads in the UK?

FFS, PH. We're all supposed to love cars. Why have a go at all the drivers of one particular type? If it's not RR drivers, it's Prius drivers or Audi drivers or old people or women or...

But you know what? I bought the car for myself, not because I care what other people think of it. If other people like it, that's okay with me. And if not, tough. I'm not going to change the car just because a bunch of people I've never met don't approve.

British built, British jobs and someone doing well enough to buy and run one.

The more the merrier IMO.

Aaaaah, the pathetic negative bias. smile

It used to be BMW drivers; still is for some, now it is Audi and SUV drivers, especially RR ones, are always good sport to focus upon and criticise it seems.

It's stupid, of course.

There is no such thing as one Marque having a greater number of bad or inconsiderate drivers than another, it is simply a product of pet hates, envy's or some other personal negative bias that you associate it with.

If you dislike something about a particular car for any reason whatsoever, consciously or sub-consciously you will focus upon anything drivers of such cars do that offends you. This makes you assume they are reinforcing your bias and feed it. You feel indignant about it and spread it about. Ignorant people in Society believe it and spread it to other ignorant folk who are happy to share in the negative bias.

The reality is, if you want to see bad drivers in ALL types of cars, you will find them.

OP. If lanes 1 and 2 were indeed clear - what were YOU doing in lane 3?

Pot calling kettle... wink
At a guess, he was wanting to get past the tt in the RR and not wanting to attract the attention of the law by overtaking on the left. Working this out did require the application of at least three brains cells so I can see how it would confuse some.

Passing these lane hogging wkers on the left does tend to make them go ballistic IME. However, I don't find RRs to be particularly worse than other cars, more common IME is white van man/tipper van man trundling along at 65mph with a giant queue behind him.

This.

Although I think you have to look beyond the brands and look at the types of drivers:

Middle class wannabes who will never earn enough to be contented
Short men with Napoleon complexes
Women of a certain age and with certain lifestyle expectations

These will be attracted to premium brands and/or big cars because they often overcompensate to hide deep seated insecurities. Hence why many RR and Audi drivers are almost identikit similar and drive like idiots.

You shouldn't feel anger though. More pity.
Oh look, another idiot posting stereotypical trite old ste.

Wag complex..

In their mind, peasants like you have no business being in front of them regardless of the speed they are travelling at. You should also be able to predict when they want to change lanes/make turns too, saving them any inconvenience of having to indicate like some sort of commoner.

To be fair, it can happen in any car they deem to be 'up market'. Usually Mini's, BMW 1 series', white Audi's, or Victoria Beckham-esque SUVs.

But, if he was in lane 1 or 2, and stayed in it as he passed the RR in lane 3, then he would have done nothing wrong in the eyes of the law.

No, the point being made was that the OP should have been in lane 1, there was no need to go out to lane 2 then to lane 3.

If passed slowly 2 lanes away there is nothing to go ballistic about, they probably would not even have realised and no copper is going to pull you for that.

Well that was a revelation. I'll drive all the time in the fast lane again after today. Miles of clear road.

Tonight I'm gong to make the OP's head explode when I pick up our caravan....

Some bad parking for him too....

Maybe they just like being in a nice place whilst driving? Stereotypes like this simply project your beliefs and biases and perhaps say more about you than them? Most people just step in and drive. All of this baggage doesn't come in to effect. They may simply be a below average driver

I know my original post was a sweeping generalisation and not fair to ALL RR drivers. But after such a day at the wheel it was rather annoying.

I was in lane 1, overtaking things in lane two now and then, pulling back into lane 1, sitting for ages, then repeat. This went on for ages until there actually was traffic which meant I met the RR in a queue in lane three. However once all the traffic was clear and inner lanes empty he just never pulled in. This went on for quite some miles. Of course eventually we arrive at a few MLM, so then it starts all over again. No the motorway was not 100% empty all the time. But there were very long stretches where it was close to deserted at times.

I did consider steaming off ahead in lane 1 or 2. But couldn't be arsed causing a potential driving aggrivation situation of ever escalating speeds, as my girl was in the car too. Luckily I didn't as one of these RR drivers must have realised he was about to miss his junction, so abruptly pulled back across all three lanes and only just made his exit.

I would love to have a picture of the comedy of it. But I don't have a dash cam and wouldn't use my phone.

Ok rant over. Let's discuss another brand hehe

If we're into generalisations it can only be assumed the people complaining are peasants and probably drive round in barely legal scrap heaps looking for any excuse to vent they frustration at they own lack of success. Just saying.

Edinburgh is dreadful, I owned a 850R when I lived there, nearly broke my back.
