Why do you feel the need to spoil potentially interesting threads?

Not saying we won't see them. But certainly more of a rarity. Proper rugged simple 4x4's, actually capable of real off road work.

We won't see these again? Result thumbup

Why the fk would you end up in a situation like that in a 4x4?!?
Are you a moron (don't worry I know the answer wink )

I take it you assume to end up in a situation like that in a Caterham then?? biglaugh

If you needed to travel through or work in extreme areas you would use a specialist tool such as a Quad, Ranger, Argocat etc, even farmers wouldn't be stupid enough to try and use the vehicle they use to go to the shops to try and get to extreme places. 4x4's with suspension like that are for silly men that like to intentionally get stuck in mud, no other reason for them.

Before you spout more bks, I'll add that I speak as someone who grew up on a farm and have my own company that "specialises" in accessing remote, off road sites.
I grew up on a farm too, in fact the one where that Land Rover is, and that Land Rover is currently owned by my Uncle.... you know the actual farmer.
Your making yourself out to be stupid now pal, and like someone said, side tracking a potentially good thread with your bigotry.

righto skippy, whatever... Do you regularly argue with yourself in a darkened room? it would surprise noone if you did...

i see this a lot with you, you make a startlingly broad sweeping generalisation and then when challenged you refine 'what you really meant' into a single example of something you like. i remember once you advocated a defender as being a sterling example of a 'back road weapon' that would outrun all manner of hot hatches along a typical b road..... i'd lay off the bong water if i were you!

you should have said "Not saying we won't see them. But certainly more of a rarity. a swb defender pickup with raised suspension and mud tyres"

In tbe same vein as the Integrale and Sierra Coswoeth I would add tbe totally bonkers Metro 6R4.

I still remember a crazy ride in one those in the late 80s along with driving an Integrale.

This collaboration is not an everyday occurrence for mass-market brands. And despite having been built in Hethel, it was supposedly distinct from the Elise.

It's unusual for them to develop an entire car so close to one of their own, but Lotus are continuously working on collaborations in a consultancy role.

I guess the Passat W8 falls into this category too? Silly unusual engine in a 'run of the mill' saloon car. I always wanted one just for the novelty value

I submit this:

The mainstream large saloon. Ford seemed to have moved the Mondeo up in size enough for it to fall into the black hole that ate this segment of the market too. Can you see the market ever changing to the point where a 5 metre long Vauxhall with a 3 litre engine is something people will buy?
ok not a 3litre but a 2.8 turbo ala the Insignia VXR 4.9 metres close enough smile

Just a minor point, I thought it had been well proven that the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon was superior off road than any Land Rover product. From what I recall the LandRover was better for towing and load lugging. Talking unmodified btw.

Had one of those in a massive RV I rented in the US last year. 6.8 litre IIRC. Superb thing and surprisingly economical. Sounded quite good at full chat.

Got to give a mention to "nearly everything made in America from 1955-1975".

Not sad we won't see the planetary level of resource wasteage involved, or the nautical standard of handling. But very sad we won't see the sheer free exuberance of the designs, and on occasion, even elegance.

Next gen corvette is already confirmed to be powered by a large N/A V8.

Can't see GM getting rid of that for a long long time.

A car with a big six like the TVR S6

A rear engined car that's fun to drive, and isn't a 911 (no more Rapids, Alpines or Smart roadsters)

An affordable car with an engine that revs (no more Honda vtec)

A small family car with RWD (can't think of any since the 80's / early 90's)

A car with an interesting engine that isn't the size and weight of a truck.

In other words, pretty well any car that I'd actually want to own!
