RE: Lotus Evora 400 Hethel Edition
Discussion
I like the Evora, but I wish they'd develop the engine. For 3.5 litres plus forced induction, 410bhp isn't THAT wonderful... and I think, having got close to an Evora recently, I know why. All the noise was coming from the exhaust. The engine itself sounded no louder than it would in a Camry. Come on, Lotus, come up with an induction kit and head/cam package to make it sound like a sports car!
How tiresome and predictable. The usual Lotus and Evora bashers are amongst the first to post.
No one has yet told me what other sports car or even GT car that you can buy for £75k that gives:
Similar performance
Poise and hanfling up with the very best road cars
Almost telepathic steering
The ability to take a couple of young kids and the Mrs out for a spin
Comfortable even on long trips
Knocking the cars without proper experience of them just for the sake of it is juvenile and smacks of massive insecurities of ones own car choice or ability to afford one.

What he said
I'm not a Lotus basher by any means. I really like the Evora overall, particularly the styling, but I just don't think the engine is special enough. Lotus certainly has the capability to take an ordinary engine and make it extraordinary. Why can't they do the same for the Evora as they did for the Cortina, Carlton etc?

Have you driven an Evora? Especially the 400? The engine is far from a let down even in the most basic of 7 year old n/a Evora's. 7000rpm rev limit is quite interesting. I think people get carried away with the source of the engine and make judge it based on its original manufacturer rather than its application.blueg33 said:

I think some people (like Mr RoverP6) just regurgitate what they read in magazines instead of actually driving the car in question and then giving a properly informed opinion. Others are just Porsche sycophantic dog penises.

I don't think they realise it is common knowledge yet
Edit: So it may well end up being a Rotus
