a Brera Spider and it's a cracking looking convertible
As a former Alfa owner myself I have to disagree with you on that one - the Brera Spider is one of the most ill-proportioned cars Alfa ever made; the front and rear overhangs make it look like the wheels are too far inboard (from a profile perspective) and it's even more galling as the concept was soooo good looking to begin with...
Concept:

Execution:

Same goes for the Coupe too:

It's like watching 10 years of stick thin blonde pale German models who look grumpy but efficient and then Sophia Loren or Gina Lollobrigida turns up.

This at the golf club or, in my case, parked outside the kebab shop. Magic.

If it's 8C Red then yes its a stupid amount of money for a paint job, if it is just the usual Alfa Red, it may come as one of the standard colours along with White. Still, I like the look of this and it's good to see an Alfa getting positive reviews from almost everywhere for once!
8C red used to be something daft like £12K, but that was when it involved the car being assembled in the Alfa plant, then shipped to the Maserati 8C line, stripped and repainted. Nice, slick process! I suspect there was an element of publicity grabbing too with it.

Now 8C red is a more sensible(ish!) £800 option, or something like that.

Re. No manual RHD cars: given its been engineered in LHD, there's probably not the space/route for the clutch and associated hydraulics. Given how many manual QVs they'd be likely to sell (clue: very few!) in RHD format, it probably wasn't worth the costs of redesigning and retooling.

I'm strangely un-excited about this. The 'Alfa thing' in a modern sense has always been lost on me. Having had the use of a Sud back in the day it was wonderful, as were the 75's, but now, meh.

An Alfa with 500 hp is always wellcome even if a DCT would be more appropriate that the ZF 8spds to go chasing M3s. Anyway in LHD form there is the manual which is quite attractive...

The looks are not brave enough. It doesn't look ugly and the proportions feel right but really both front and rear are too similar to German competition.

Its been like this with previous Alfa saloons, but the previous ones were cheating slappers.

Mike\PH is it possible to find out why there are no manual petrols in RHD? This was a contender for being my next car but with no manual option it's a no go. I'm bloody fed up with auto's\DSG's. I've tried the very best of them and while they are competent in traffic, they are all without fail sleep inducing when you want to actually drive the car yourself.

Very annoying and yet every article I've read seems to glossing over this. It's not even got a DCT\DSG, just a slush auto. Drivers car my arse! mad

Sounds like a nice car.
It just looks so coarse and brutish to me to me, which is a shame because the Alfa Romeo of old is the last brand I would associate with those adjectives.

Glory be, it looks the planets have aligned and Alfa have made a car that's desirable without any of the usual caveats. When was the last time that happened, the GTV?

Well OK, to my eyes it still has both face and body of someone who's just been told they actually probably shouldn't have another slice of the black forest gateau, and I'm sure there's already plenty of people who've expressed disappointment about our not getting the manual. A lot of people seem to really dig the looks though, and it's not like most of the competition have manuals either.

I just hope no issues come to light further down the line...

Its kinda good looking but also not, which is a shame. Although it's probably mostly on a par with the competition. I feel like its looks would be greatly help if they chucked out the heavy large-holed grill plastic and used a finer mesh that was pushed much further back towards the radiator.

I think it looks 'ok', which is a bit disappointing after the amazing 'scoop' pics in Car magazine a few years ago, if anyone remembers them. I remember when the 164 and 156 came out - they took your breath away (well, they did mine). In fact I still think the 156 is one of the best looking small saloons ever.

FINALLY ALFA!

YOU HAVE MADE A CAR I WANT TO BUY!

EVERYONE SAYS YOU SHOULD OWN AN ALFA ONCE IN YOUR LIFE BUT I JUST COULDN'T BRING MYSELF TO IT. BUT NOW...I MAY JUST BE PERSUADED.

LOOKS MEAN. WHEELS ARE GORGEOUS. 510BHP. MANUAL GEARBOX.

Looks very good value for money, with that engine and that estimated price. Just the right amount of extroversion in the design, too.

A superb alternative to the usual Germans. And, hopefully, something altogether good / additive / forward-thinking for the segment as a whole.

I've just signed up to the details of this. I'm looking for a car of this type early next year and this is somewhere near the top of the list now...

Beautiful looking, not the usual german names, will be plenty quick enough for the road.

I like the idea of a little lag, modern turbo cars are just too torque rich IMO
