Whether it's to your taste or not, the rest of this car is extremely well thought out and considered but the rear bumper on the 225/r26 is gopping. the standard and GT ones are much nicer.

Those awful F1 stickers they put on the r25 & 6. We get it, the Renaultsport F1 team had a hand in designing the car, no need to tell the whole world!
"No need to tell the whole world" ... Hmmm, well they poured millions into formula 1 to shout about it when they win and help the sales. They didn't do it for the love of the sport.
They did though. Just a little bit.

Saw this today and it had me puzzled. The Ford Ecosport rear lights.

The main light clusters are part red and part clear, looks fine, but no. The 'clear' part of the right hand cluster is a chrome boot handle, then they put the fog and reverse lights in the bumper. I know the original model of this had the spare wheel on the boot, but couldn't they have worked out a way to put the boot handle in the number plate light, then all the lights in the clusters? As it is, I don't think the clear part of the left hand light in the boot lid does anything. It's just messy.

they didnt even bother to fit aero wipers, which are standard on a fiesta, so i doubt they would do anything else. god awful Brazilian car. The old style hook wipers are totally unacceptable today, they have they on the nissan juke too, and a selection of awful suzukis

The other one I have is another automotive gem. My neighbour had one of these and it made me cross every time I looked at it. The number plate position on the some Hyundai SUV. I can't recall if this is quite right but google images suggest it might be a Santa Fe. If it wasn't a Santa Fe they've done it to another one as well.

The positioning allows the enormous boot release some space with the result being that the number plate is ever so slightly off centre. Not so much that it's a "feature" (I have a Alfa 159 so I'm fine with asymmetric) but enough that it's obvious and annoying. Looks like in markets with smaller plates like the US it doesn't have that effect but anywhere like the UK with long rectangular ones this is the effect.

Arrrrrrggggggghhhhhh

that whole boot handle area is just terrible.

What was wrong with the more normal idea of having it hidden in the trim panel above the number plate like other cars?

It's not like it has sideways opening door, so why does it need to be offset?

Kinda a design, cars that dont have a intermittent setting for the rear wiper, really annoying

Also, Japanese cars, their stupid clocks and awful gear gators, along with the buttons from the 80s

Cars where you can see the bulbs in the lamps too, in this day and age it looks awful, surely we should be moving closer and closer to full LED lamps front and rear, and again its the japaneese who are the worst

Could it be a second reversing light?
2 lights good , 1 light poor

Bit of an oldie but this always drove me nuts (once a mate of mine pointed it out). On V6 Ford Probes the twin exhausts sit ever so slightly at an angle. More of a manufacturing and quality botch probably than design per se but still annoying. You can just about see it in this.

OT but I remember colleague proudly walking into the office one day so tell me that the Probe Courtesy car he had was a V24. Nice!

TBH, any one who ruins their perfectly balanced rwd BMW by ticking the box marked "Add 100kg right upfront, corrupt the steering, make the car understeer horribly, prevent any roundabout fun, and screw the fuel economy", oh, sorry, i mean't "Xdrive" should get more than a crappy plastic badge stuck on their car......... ;-)
You forgot 'screw the turning circle' too.

That was the most obvious difference I noticed after driving RWD and X-Drive BMWs back to back.

Talking of awkward things that drive you nuts. I have the pleasure of owning one of these fktard, stbags. The headlight wipers drive me fking bonkers. The little fkers never park level and even the Land rover press shots have them splayed out a silly angles. Not acceptable on what at the time was a £50,000 car. To cap it off one of my kids put the passenger head restraint up and now it wont go down you push the button and and can hear the motor but no movement. I cant stand things not being all symmetrical or level. Look at this bd below.

This is mine with the wipers which have been manually leveled, if you use the wipers with the headlights on though................ I suppose it's just one of the many things that are crap about these cars.

Passed by two of these on my commute home yesterday evening, had me scratching my head. The strange lighting design I'm not a fan of, especially with the 'X' in the centre, also the big bulky 'double' arches (plastic trim plus body panel) above the diddy wheels seemed quite odd.

To be honest. The grille being painted silver on yours is much worse than wonky headlight wipers

Regarding the headrest movement - I had the same issue on an old BMW I owned. It is driven by a worm gear on a screw and what has happened is either the thread has stripped, or the gear has popped out.

If you can be bothered...

Take the seat cover off at the back, if you can. Once you're into the inner workings you should find that you can either re-set the gear, or, if you need the re-thread it, then use something like a speedometer cable and repurpose that, or, put some old wire coathanger in the end to give it some "bite" again.

yes I have simplified it a bit, but that should be how the mechanism works.

'double' arches seem odd, it;s obvuiously apingthe use of eyebrows on both 'real' Jeeps and on coil sprung 'proper' Land rovers ( ie. 90/110/130 and Defender) where track widths grew beyond the limits of the body during the life of the vehicle ...

The X detail is done to mirror the old Army auxillary fuel cans carried on the back of Army Jeeps.

This thread could run for some time as it seems to me that nearly all new cars just look way too overstyled and messy now. What happened to coherent design? The same disease that has affected exterior styling, seems to have spread to interiors as well. Ford interiors used to be neat, functional and ergonomic:

What was going through their minds when they came up with this mess, it's all over the place!

They can't even make the dial binnacles round, they look like they have been flattened and squashed. Why, just why? Make them round please biggrin

Why has it all gone wrong? In the 60's and 70's cars used to be designed by one person using a pencil and paper. I suppose nowdays it is all done by a committe of 'designers' who use computers and work against a tick sheet of required features... result = they all look a fckuing mess!
