Nothing annoys me more than the awful wheel gap and fitment on the 458, even the Speciale. For the kind of car it is, it's just wrong.

Oh and don't get me started on the horrendous black side skirts.

That mini bonnet and stupid second set of lights.....

My best guess at their mindset is that some designer said: "We need a point of difference for the new Multipla. You know what has never been done before. A car that has partly consumed its congenital twin in the womb."

The speciale is a total mess. I like the top half of the rear end and that's it.
In fact the 458 in general is a bit off. They put a lot right with the 488 though.

Any car that has rear brake lights that become next to invisible when the sun shines on them....and the warning chime on my BMW that you can't turn the volume down on.

Start/Stop buttons on the steering wheel.

You use that button twice per drive. You do not need it constantly and conveniently to hand!

yes

The styling sweet spot for the lightweight performance special V8 Ferraris is the 360 Challenge Stradale. Probably the only Ferrari that gets close to being near the F40 in desirability in my opinion.

The "Scuderia" and "Speciale" that followed are no doubt faster, but just are nowhere near as desirable IMO.

The handbrake in many early '00s VAG product that fouled on the armrest!!!! How the fk did it get signed off? (Picture from Google)

IIRC modern Polos still suffer from this.
I recalled this from my old hack Passat, and guessed it was just a lazy RHD conversation feature.

No other reason I can think of why the hand brake was easier to access from the passenger seat.?

The awkward cramming in of the leaping cat and 'Jaguar' badges on the XF bootlid.

I get eye twitches every time I'm behind one in traffic.

I actually spoke to Ian Callum (when I met him) about that and suggested that round badge would have looked better on the boot and that the leaping cat in LH & RH form on the wings (if they had to) would have looked better.

He said that I didn't know what I was talking about hehe

A car with 'bingo wings' laugh or perhaps the bonnet was trying to fit into clothes a size too small.

I have many bugbears with modern designs, some of which that spring to mind are
1: LED DRL's that turn off when indicators are on, because stupid designers put the lights all together in one unit...it makes the whole thing more expensive to replace, and a "safety" light that turns off is just stupid. Just put the indicator in a separate location where you can clearly see the indicator flashing, and still see the DRLs..
2: Rear indicator lights that are both too small, and also are smothered by intensely bright LED brake lights...again, all put into one unit..
3: Those annoying designers at VAG who started the whole turning on the front driving light when you turn the wheel..It's utterly pointless during the day, and when i first saw cars doing this, i didnt know why they behaved like this and i went around telling everyone to turn off their driving lights..and they had a bulb out because only one side is lit...

There are many others, i wont bore you with them all now..
The DRLs turning off or down are so you can see the indicator, Porsche Cayenne have them so they don't turn off and in the day I couldn't tell it was indicating at first

The Citroen DS3 doesn't even have cupholders. That's pretty awkward.

Yes, this looks almost as stupid as my most hated of features, the cornering fog light.

Let's put a space on the bumper where the exhaust would go if it was a new ST, and then just leave the original hanging there at the side.

Freelander fake exhaust.

Looks like it goes out, but goes down. The tube is inside the tip so looks stupid.

Anything with entirely too much model description badging going on. I am astonished that there are people who don't take the "delete model inscription" option on 911s. It is pretty much the only thing that they don't charge extra for too...

on the new cayman they've started using the "internal" code on the badge too - 718 cayman

possibly yet another number to add to the 911 badges
