Awkward design details on production cars
Discussion
Late model (can't remember which E number, even though I worked for them for 8 years, might even be an F? ) 7 series interior door trim pull handle. Go on then, where is it?
It's actually above the wood trim, and is recessed into the rest of the material. I must have got in and out of 100's of them when I worked for them, and I never could find the damn thing. That peripheral vision that usually kicks in when you have a prominent visible grab handle to get hold of just doesn't work, and because the handle is more or less horizontal it's not a natural fit with your hand position. Pointless bit of design.

I blame that, and the 25 in general, for the end of Rover. Overpriced and not really fitting into a defined sector of the market. Just terrible.
And now how many versions of cars are there with plastic arch extensions, roof rails and higher suspension? ...Polo Cross, Panda Cross, Fabia Scout, Polo Dune, Adam Rocks...I blame that, and the 25 in general, for the end of Rover. Don't get me wrong, I'm a total and complete Volvo fanboy, but there are a few lines on recent Volvos that really irk me; I guess you always find the niggles with the things you love...
First off, the window line on the latest XC90 perfectly follows the body lines for the first two rows, but by the third row, it has a slight upwards kink (outlined in red here) which completely goes against the boxy good looks and annoys the heck out of me.
Second of all, in the V60 R-Design and Polestar variants, the front bumper has a lower grille which tapers out on both sides and just looks a bit overstyled to me...nothing near what Lexus is doing nowadays, but not the classy angles of the standard V60 bumper.

.. But on the Polestar blue thing, perhaps the idea is that the viewer's eye is drawn around the wheel and along the lower side of the car - giving the illusion of speed. After all, not only does one have to leave Ikea quickly, one has to be seen to leave Ikea Kwikly.First off, the window line on the latest XC90 perfectly follows the body lines for the first two rows, but by the third row, it has a slight upwards kink (outlined in red here) which completely goes against the boxy good looks and annoys the heck out of me.

The black hearse-on-stilts overstyled and hideous thing is perhaps more a case of meeting a structural brief. Strait edges and sharp corners don't do as well in stress tests hence, the rounded and upwards lift.

Don't worry saaby, it's that bit IN the wood trim (not above) that looks very handle like. The bit which also even has a little red LED to illuminate it with a soft glow to make it easy to find.

Oh yeah I saw that - I thought there must be some sort of grab thing in the cream trim that I couldnt seeHere's a better picture from google.

He is talking about the handle to pull the door closed. I can`t see it either. unless you thing it`s acceptable to pull a door closed with the opening handle?
Ok, now Stepway's post makes more sense. For some reason, when I first got up this morning, I read it as him getting stuck in the car all the time. Similar to when people can't find the button to open the door on a TVR.
