The sun-roof is becoming a very rare item, and personally I'd take one over air-con any day
I was playing about with the configurator for the Focus RS a couple of days ago & was surprised to find an electric tilt/slide sunroof as an option. I don't think I've ever seen a Mk3 Focus (or indeed a Mk2, come to think of it) with a sunroof!

The ashtray is something else I miss - my 2007 Focus had the smokers pack fitted, much neater than the rubber lined tray & socket cover that was the norm on that car. Not that I actually smoke, obvs - I just used it for keeping my parking meter change in!

Pop up sunroofs are seeming to get more rare in my opinion, I though they were a great idea! Haven't had a car with one yet!

Headlamp/indicator bulbs that you can change in about 30 seconds instead of having to have hands the size of a child or dismantling half the car !

Vanity mirrors on the inside of the passenger side sun visor only and not on the driver's side... harks back to the good old days when women knew their place and their limitations, leaving driving to their menfolk.

Isn't that what you'd describe as a hot hatch?

Oh, and sidewalls on tyres while I think about it.

The revolution is coming, and it'll be on 70 series 'R' rated rubber...

Use a better grade of steel and make thinner. It's what the customer wants
I imagine that it is much more complicated than just steel grade, but then I'm not a vehicle crash specialist.
Neither am I but I have watched BMW laser welding an expensive grade of steel onto the A pillars of whichever 3 Series Cabrio was new on the market about 15 years ago.

The key word in that sentence is expensive.

Cars that don't get bigger with every update.
How did a mini get to be a MINI?

Thin pillars here too.

Good one.. What's the newest car with a cigarette lighter? We have a 2008 Mazda 6 with one! Actually I'm not sure if a previous owner just got it and put it in the power socket.. Can anyone confirm?
The dacia Duster still came with both in 2013. not sure if still in the facelift model

Like the windy windows, I'd like a return to manual operation of stuff.
Reduce the button-fest, reduce the need for ECUs monitoring everything.
Allow the driver to be responsible for making decisions...

I want to fix things with a screwdriver and spanner not have to buy a replacement part and bin the defunct one because some robot has soldered something 0.16mm instead of 0.2mm

I feel like a right luddite typing this but I cannot stand touchscreens or touch sensitive buttons in cars. I can see their use for satnav but I hate having to adjust the radio or climate functions or anything else with them. Totally unergonomic and distracting. Radios should have rotary knobs. They were a great solution and still are.

Not a fan of electronic handbrakes.

Undertrays covering everything (I realise this doesn't quite fit the thread title). I see the point and some are well designed but some make the simplest tasks a real ballache. I'm looking at you Lotus Elise.

Cars without PAS. And on a similar subject, slim tactile steering wheels.

Subtle headlights. I don't mean the lights themselves but the enormous ugly housings they now invariably sit in.

Ha! I still have these on my gorgeous shed 9-5. Everyone takes the piss because it's old but I love it!
