Boy that's a tough one - some really nice touches, some really awful bits - overall result is a bit mixed...

The last Hommage was nicer - esp the interior - but they're just arty-farty concepts, not like they matter in the scale of things??

Was/is a big fan of the 02 as I had a tii for 6 years. HTY817L I think it was, Inca orange, still on the go somewhere.
Thought I'd clicked the wrong thread when I saw the pics of this thing

This must surely be a hommage to the E21, not the 2002...

Until now I thought Bangle beemers were the fugliest but this concept is up there! - modern German mainstream cars - are predominantly bland and unexciting. 2002 homage is brutal looking as are M2, M4 - all gaping aero front end and Barry boy arches etc , no design finesse or beauty but can't argue with the performance they deliver.

I would take an original 2002 turbo over that any day! BMW really make some ugly cars..

It's quite worrying how awful this car looks. It's fair enough that they make fugly production cars like the x1, x3, 5gt, 2as, x4,... And then sell them because underneath they're quite decent cars with a good badge.

This however should be all about the looks. And it really is all over the place. That side view makes the Hyundai Matrix look coherent and well thought out.

The more I look at it the better it gets, they knocked it out of the park this time.

It looks a bit awkward in the pictures however I think that's because the pictures don't properly portray just how wide it is.

Provided it's wide enough, I think it's stunning.

The little 'face' it has makes it look like it's sticking its tongue out - the bit in the central lower air intake

Reminds me a bit of the tongue on this car or Fleegle

Some nice detail on it, but overall it doesn't work and is nothing like a 2002 which was simple functional and elegant, this is not..

WTF is going on the BMW design department? They must be smoking crack with their stupid lazy homages. I had an 02 back in the day they were quite elegant. This thing is a long way from elegant.

My local Sainsbury's speed ramps would have that splitter off in seconds. Kind of like it though.

I guess beauty is always in the eye of the beholder - but I like it!

Looks quite stunning in the flesh here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_N-U33kbKts#t=514....

Same bodykit and wheels, improve induction noise and increase power, sort out the naff interior with a full-blown M Performance interior (a la Porsche GTS) and call it an M2 CSL

Job done!

What a pigs breakfast this abortion is. Even Khan could have come up with a more cohesive and less ugly design, and that's saying something.
