Now that Idlewillo's brilliant Aussie V8 championship is drawing to a close, time to look at a replacement series, to carry on the fun.
I made a suggestion of some classic British Saloon Car Championship style racing from the 60's & 70's that seemed well received, so perhaps we could try this.Ive started this thread to gauge reactions & interest, put up my initial ideas and canvas any other suggestions. And then to set the details & do the damn thing!
So,as I posted in the other thread, using details from these wiki pages,'61 onwards
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1961_British_Saloon_...
and also from John S4x4's excellent link
http://touringcarracing.net/Pages/cars.html
So the suggested car list looks like this,BSCC plus a few from Europe
|| || || || ||
Any more car suggestions? Such a shame we dont have a Ford Galaxie,Hillman Imp,Merc 300, or the Mk II Jag!
Tuning allowed, your own or community,up to a max of C class.(Cars in game from Group 5 like the Zakspeed Capri are just too powerful as S class compared to the others.)
Custom paint with your race number, all aids will be allowed if needed, damage and collision will be on.
Track suggestions:
Brands full,Brands Indy,Silverstone full,Silverstone club,Spa,Le Mans Bugatti,Nurburgring GP,Hockenheim short,Monza full Alt,finale at Le Mans Old Mulsanne Circuit
I personally may have a problem actually doing the hosting as I have a terribly slow internet (also a wife who doesnt like to give up the telly for a "kid's game"!)so I dont know if anyone can do that
Tuesday still best?
So what do we think?
Sign up here & any comments/suggestions/insults welcome

I'm in ?
What's not allowed ? eg engine swaps etc
What must you have ? eg STD tyres or sports or slicks ? Do you want the cars to slip and slide or grip ?
Can you include the Toyota Corrolla. Ta
What about the Chevy Camaro's ?
Do we have an official testing track ? I'll post my times then.
The thought occurred to me that perhaps we could race the cars on a rota system ? Eg everybody jumps into a different car for each roumd ?
That way we can get the fast guys in a slow car and the slow guys in the fast cars at some point.

Did the 69 Camaro and the Corolla race. I may well have missed them on the wiki pages
AFAIAC you should be able to have any parts tune you want, perhaps with the exception of drivetrains swaps. Up to max PI of C class.
My go to test track is Brands Indy.
May be a good idea to rotate cars, but what counts as a fast car? eg I'm faster in a grip tune than a speed tune of the same car usually, regardless of track.
Maybe a PI handicap for the top 3 finishers from previous round, not sure how much it should be though, I suspect making them race D class may be a bit much . but then again...

Sounds good - will likely be in something American.
If people are using community tunes you can't drop PI as the tune is locked - is there any way to hold particular cars on the grid for a set time so the top 3 start the following race 5/10/20 seconds behind the pack?
I know its there in the "new car vs older versions" races in the game but doubt its an option for lobbies. Would probably have to be an honour systemIf people are using community tunes you can't drop PI as the tune is locked - is there any way to hold particular cars on the grid for a set time so the top 3 start the following race 5/10/20 seconds behind the pack?

Updated my post with a bit more information.
What may be an idea is limit the amount cars to be picked . Ie only 2 drivers can pick the cortina , 2 in the mustang etc.
That way good variety in track
OR
each driver has to use a different car for each event and then they can choose one for the final.

We could consider limits, depends on what people may want to race

On the question of hosting,I think getting dropped from last nights lobby, and the fact that it has taken me half an hour to load this pot, means my stty rural scottish internet is just not up for the job....so,any volunteers?Am happy to do all the admin, but I dont want to have a race ruined by being dropped half way through thanks to BTs 2-cans-and-a-piece-of-string internet
