RE: Ford Focus RS vs. Honda Civic Type R

Based on pure fact just trawl through the adds for sale.
Do you need help with the big words? The Mk2 RS, although gopping, was only ever intended to be a limited run thing (about 12k units from memory) as a "halo" model to boost the ST sales.
This Mk3 I am led to believe will not be limited, they will sell as many as they can make (after I'd imagine some Stuttgart style demand control at the onset)and therefore residuals will plummet just as much as anything else in the sector, probably quicker than the CTR as it has a stronger brand in this segment.
Supply and demand.

Great article thanks!
Hmmmm, so RS beats M2, now Type R beats RS.. Very confusing time for those withe a good budget to spend imo...
Is it really confusing? Surely you just go and test drive the ones you actually like the look of and pick the one you like the best?Hmmmm, so RS beats M2, now Type R beats RS.. Very confusing time for those withe a good budget to spend imo...
Does it really matter what some article claims as this one is better than that one?

Well actually supply is indeed limited and therefore your entire post is incorrect. This will likely hold its value better than the other Focus RS's.Supply and demand.
Oh and demand is currently far in excess of supply.

I wouldn't own either car for good reason
"Because 30k"
The type of person that wants one of these still has spots on their face more than likely.
The type of person that can afford one of these has just been left his parents inheritance or his kids have just moved out.
That or he's been selling his soul for a living.
or they might just have saved up for one. not hard. I would say the average buyer will be over 35 who actually buys one ( not lease ). "Because 30k"

I'd suggest multiple other people in this room are in a similar position.
If you can't afford one Joe well thats just too bad (I'm sure you'll say you don't want one for this reason or that - but your first line and previous posts shows you obviously can't afford one and really wanted a Golf....but too poor) but don't state retarded things about the buying demographic just because you bought some stty Polo that will be worth buttons in the next couple of years.

I was with you until you commented about his car. Didn't add anything to what you said. I'd suggest multiple other people in this room are in a similar position.

Well I hope that I don't need help with the big words. That seems like a backhanded insult for a guy who has probably driven more cars than you have had hot dinners. Yes Traffic officer for 26years Royal protection driver, Armed response driver and examiner for the IAM so put your vast experience what is it ?The Mk2 RS, although gopping, was only ever intended to be a limited run thing (about 12k units from memory) as a "halo" model to boost the ST sales.

So residuals are of priority on determining which car drives better...??
Its a factor that's important when you eventually want to purchase something else I lost £3500 in 6 years on an RS Focus Mk2 if I had purchased a 135msport in 2010 30k would have been the purchase price and I would have got well under 12K. So YESStephen T said:

And every other Road test has put the Focus way out in front of the Honda. Don't get me wrong the Honda is good but not as good as the RS in so many other areas. But at the end of the day we all have different opinions, it would be boring if we hadn't.Stephen T said:

Can you point me to one of these tests? The only other one I found was that crappy Autotrader one that ruled out the Civic based on a wet track time and never even tried it on the road. Waste of time. Everyone seems to be besotted with the Focus. Maybe I shouldn't have cancelled my order and bought a new guitar with the deposit..haha!rb5er said:
