Nope. One trackday of kerb riding in sport mode and still all solid. Ask a Fiesta ST owner that question smile
Wow. Amazing performance. I'd never had thought a new car would still be "all solid" after one track day. You really have picked the best of the bunch there, and there is no way indeed a mere Fiesta ST would have been able to escape unscathed. A good sample too, very telling and worthy of a conclusion for future Polo owners. You really are smart Joe.

Edit : also, it wasn't exactly a full day, just an evening. Also, at that pace, you were never gonna break anything ;-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdX2qIFm03U&fe...

Considering many Fiesta owners have complained of bad build quality and rattles just from the road then yes.

What pace do you expect of someone in a brand new car, on his first two laps of a circuit he has never driven before in that car and in the dry exactly?

Build quality and rattles are something quite different from reliability, a bit like soft touch plastic paint, covering, whatever it is. I know which I would choosesmile.

So you reckon and abarth 500, seat ibiza cupra, 208 gti, fiesta st, clio 200 all would survive on a 21 degree day with their standard brakes?

Highly doubt that one especially as the Polo has bigger brakes than most of them!
With a good driving style, yes.

If I was you I'd try uprated fluid and see if that helps.

Here you go £149 month , £1324 up front and 8000 miles per year.

To be honest it looks alright compared to a focus st at £214 month.
That ain't bad to be fair, if you wanted a reasonably comfy, brisk motor for tooling about in you could do a lot worse me thinks.

Sat in both an RS and the Type R at Goodwood today, I have to say I wouldn't be happy with the interior of the Focus to be honest, the civic was a lot nicer IMO. I know interior quality is not the be all and end all wink

A dealer informs me the new CTR will soon be no more - The new 2017 Civic is out shortly and it is being manufactured elsewhere from the current; the CTR will cease to be for the medium future. He also showed me his dealer access portal on his computer and there are hardly any build allocations left.

I'm beginning to think the CTR might become a good financial buy if you can get a good deal (I paid 27k for my 400miles pre reg) as they are definitely a slow burner. Also, itt seems the more people experience the drive and see them in the flesh generally they are warming to them.

It won't obviously be in the same league as the FRS for residuals but as far as a new car purchase I think they will fare pretty well.

Spot on. I too sat in the white CTR and both it & the red one looked superb. So much 'better' than the FRS, & as for the interior! Granted interiors aren't everything but you spend a lot of time looking at one....

Snap. I was also at Goodwood over the weekend and thought the Civic was a nicer pace to be and felt racer.

Civic for me.

I love this Joe guy. The polo GTI is the best car that's ever graced humanity. Apparently.

Wow now I know what it feels like to be Putin and have everything I say taken out of context!

I've never claimed it to be the best car ever I'm just saying it's a good and underrated one is all.

Ok, I'll bite this time. I think it's fine to hold this perfectly valid opinion about a perfectly valid car choice, but you might find less opprobrium directed toward you if you were to consider carefully the frequency and persistence with which you reiterate this point and then act accordingly (irrespective of the temptation to respond to every post on the topic with varying degrees of wince-inducing hyperbole)...

To be fair this is absolutely the case now, and has been since shortly after this thread lost the plot.

You shouldn't rise to the bait, but I'm inclined to feel more contemptuous of those that keep dangling it in front of you - given they're ostensibly grown adults.

Valid points - how about we all agree to let it lie then? wink
