I'm all for opinions, but getting personal like that? You need a break pal, that's not on.
Sorry? So his "opinion" about the buying demographic basically being spoilt children is fine but mine about his stty polo is not??I mentioned he couldn't afford one only as he himself has mentioned it several times in previous threads or else he would have bought the Golf.
I am too poor for a Lamborghini or a thousand other cars. There is always lots of people poorer and lots of people richer than anyone but his jibe at the buying demographic of both these cars is just tttish. I work bloody hard to buy the things I want.

Of course I haven't done any hard work in my life lmaoI mentioned he couldn't afford one only as he himself has mentioned it several times in previous threads or else he would have bought the Golf.

And you've taken his opinion as a personal attack, maybe you're easily offended, hence your juvenile response to him about not being able to afford something that you've concocted in your head in order to just attempt to put him down. No need to get so irate is there, unless you're in some way perturbed by the result of this one test? It would seem that way.I mentioned he couldn't afford one only as he himself has mentioned it several times in previous threads or else he would have bought the Golf.

So you are buying one, that would be the reason behind the massive clutching at tiny straw comments earlier in the thread then. Makes sense now.
And prepare for more clutching.Edited by AMGJocky on Monday 23 May 19:31
The amusing thing is I have a hundred grand sat in my bank account and the only reason I don't have a Golf Gti or R is because it would have been impossible to justify to the missus lol
Anyways his comments didn't bother me in the slightest I'm sure everyone is taking things a bit too far so let's get back to the thread.
I won't mention Polo's again I promise lol

Well actually supply is indeed limited and therefore your entire post is incorrect. This will likely hold its value better than the other Focus RS's.
Oh and demand is currently far in excess of supply.
I hope it does hold its money its part of the reason I'm getting one, although I'm not going to cry if it doesn't, noticed civics are down to £25K already.Oh and demand is currently far in excess of supply.

Hello
I wrote this comparison, my name is there when you click the story so you know where to direct your anger!
I appreciate many have been raving about the Focus RS, and as something of a fast Ford fan I was extremely excited to try it. But the fact is that with the conditions that we had, the Civic was the more enjoyable car. And having spent time with it as a long-termer, I would argue it's nearly as good everyday too. The Type R certainly isn't perfect, and I suspect the Megane may still be the more rewarding driver's car, but in this test everyone who tried the two cars preferred the Civic.
Just to add also - there are no laptimes because it was a public track day and so no timing was allowed. Felt like it would be close though!
Cheers,
Matt
Hi Matt. I think the article was great in many ways. But, I think it was deceptive in one respect. You seemed to have created a new category of review. Namely: "Which Car was the Most Fun for One Particular Sunny Spring Track Day at Anglesey". Not that that isn't a fair comparison, just enough for the casual reader to draw some unwarranted conclusions.I wrote this comparison, my name is there when you click the story so you know where to direct your anger!

Tell us this Matt: If you had to choose one or the other for a year around Daily Driver, would you have picked the Civic R? No pressure...just your journalistic integrity.

Just jumping in with my 2p (I think I may have run out after this one) - Those categories are created daily are they not? I'm pretty sure the given category that the Focus RS is grouped in is 'Which car is better on a wet track out of an AWD hot hatch vs a FWD hot hatch' and other such scenarios to lean towards the RS in that instance. See that a lot, particularly on PH from to-be owners.Tell us this Matt: If you had to choose one or the other for a year around Daily Driver, would you have picked the Civic R? Why can we get a full on test of the best 6
1) Focus Rs
2)civic type r
3)amg 45
4)golf r
5)megane Rs
6)new BMW 140i or m2.
Full on reviews taking either all or nothing into account to find simply the best junior hot hatch!
Should save the arguments then hopefully
See my reply on page 3 the first time you asked the same question .1) Focus Rs

I'm a Honda person and decided the new CTR was for me, looked great as a prototype, a true R to replicate the awesome DC2 and EK9 etc then once I saw it I was gutted. Phoned dealer as mentioned wanted deposit upfront etc, which is frankly annoying, wanted to love it but came away thinking wtf? So didn't test drive.
Along came the RS, the first AWD Turbo RS since the Escort Cosworth, 4 doors, tame looks, 4 door, AWD, Recaro seats, big power, big brakes. Phoned dealer deposit down, the delays and wait have been bad and I still don't know when I will get it. Phoned to get a test drive, at a different dealer, no worries he said and I had a really great drive.
On track on a hot day I expect the Civic would be the better car it was designed for this, I don't understand the reviewers comments on tyres as both cars run a road based tyre so no advantage either way. The RS is a fair bit heavier but when you drive it you would hardly notice, the turn in is almost Elise like (owned Elise's for 13 years now) the front end bites the rear is like on skates and drifts around avoiding the need to trail brake so you can apply throttle a lot earlier. The grip is astonishing, the brakes rock solid, the car does not feel as quick as I expected but possibly down to the engine not loosening up. The optional CS seats are too high, it is thirsty, other owners getting late 20's mpg, it is too heavy to track, the boot is a tad small and the interior a bit meh how ever Ford has spent all the money on the handling and I have never driven such a competent car with 4 seats including M cars, Meganes, Honda, Golfs etc
It is a great car and if you want an everyday fun car for all conditions this is the car of the moment, if you want a track car get the Megane.
Is it perfect, no, but at 31k the cost I will pay it ticks all the right boxes, is it better than a CTR, who knows, most the journos seem to think so but CTR isn't worth a test drive until they sort the look of it.
Personally I would have bought the CTR if it were not for the hideous looks as my wife would have refused to go in it. As it turns out think I will end up with a great car if it ever comes and the perfect partner to my S1 Elise, from a balding 41yo non spotty faced grown up
