How come no one is comparing anything to the new 45 amg? Surely the best out there at the minute and only downside is it's a bit pricey! Having said that with what people are currently asking for the new Focus Rs it's on a par price wise I'd say with much more luxury and quality so surely it's got to be reviewed much more often than its currently being done

Ignore the speeds that I spend 90% of my time driving. I have a very fast Mountune Focus ST. I've had enough 5.7 sec. tire spinning to last a lifetime, and if I wanted a track car, I wouldn't be looking at either of these cars.
"Ignore the 1.2 sec difference to 62 kph." And you call yourself PistonHeads.

I suppose if you have a small penis and a large ego it would be difficult to ignore"Ignore the 1.2 sec difference to 62 kph." And you call yourself PistonHeads.
In my real world I'm usually travelling at an average of between 40-60 mph so in that range these cars seem to be well matched and traction isn't a problem
If your ST and right foot can't handle the power then why tune it for more?

You've confused me."Ignore the 1.2 sec difference to 62 kph." And you call yourself PistonHeads.
Do do you really spend 90% of your time accelerating from O to 60mph? I doubt it.
Mid range in gear acceleration is a better measure surely.

I don't understand all these people harping on about how much better the RS or Golf R are because of their inevitable advantage in the wet.
4WD gives you traction, so yes, they are able to get off the mark better and get the power down better and sooner than FWD so off into the distance they may well fly when it's wet, but...............
I looked at your garage, the truth is it's all piss and hot air in performance terms. 4WD gives you traction, so yes, they are able to get off the mark better and get the power down better and sooner than FWD so off into the distance they may well fly when it's wet, but...............

I have a leon cupra 280 and have just ordered an rs in stealth, on the move its as quick as the s3/golf r but its getting there from a standstill that does my head in wheelhop/spin traction control light constantly flickering don't think I will ever go front drive again once its gone.

Yeah because being a petrol head is all about caring about 0-60. Who cares after that, 0-100, 20-100 etc. I mean who really cares about driving dynamics, cornering speed, track times are nuffin init. Your mongtune and its 0-60 are not the definition of piston head! Stop fooling yourself"Ignore the 1.2 sec difference to 62 kph." And you call yourself PistonHeads.

Do you live in a different England to me? Best case scenario it's raining one in three days, worst one in two. In winter it needs a couple of sunny days in a row for the roads to become dry-ish.
Sorry but I do not recognise those figures. Anyway at what speed does a 4wd/awd have an advantage over a fwd/rwd on city roads. I would have thought breakneck speeds. I would bet most of the owners of 4wd/awd cars don't utilise the full potential of the grip anyway. However, if they do, it then becomes useful. Otherwise, it is unnecessary tech.Boring 5 dr hatchbacks
The RS looks too similar to the ST and the Type R looks like its crashed into the accessory display in Halfords.
Sorry neither car does anything for me and I much rather have a Mark II RS Mountune MR375. Looks miles better and still goes better.
Saw a light blue 5 dr focus drive past the other day and within 2 minutes it was followed by the same coloured RS and TBH if I wasn't such a petrolhead I don't think I would of even noticed the difference.
At least the Type R has a presence even if its a bit dis-jointed, especially the wheels at the rear wheel arches.
The king is dead, long live the king - Mark II RS
