This thread has honestly made me laugh out loud a little too much.

Really should've got myself a bloody Polo, they're so cool.
Would definitely outrun the 14 sec 1/4 mile at the 'pod my crappy Mountune ST did.
I also saw one the other day outrunning a Veyron. Well, I think it was a Veyron, could've been a Beetle, no idea as my ST is far too slow to keep up with anything exept a twingo. Plus I was picking bits of my dashboard up off the floor so it could well have been a Golf... Who knows. All I know is, he was my hero!

Joe again you're wrong your Polo gti is £20,00 new the better hot hatches are surprise surprise all around the same price. rofl I love your reasoning in making the GTI the best in class.

Fiesta ST-3 £20,000
Clio RS Lux £20,000
208 GTI/Prestige £20,000
Seat Ibiza SC Cupra £20,000

So with all of the rivals costing the same as well as having similar if not better performance & better handling are you still convinced your GTI is a better hot hatch, of course you are laugh

How is it 20grand when I paid 18 including the extras it came with?

The Seat Ibiza is the same car basically btw.

The 208 GTI is the closest performance wise and every test I have seen (admittedly there haven't been many) the Clio and 208 have been behind the Polo.

I was talking about the Clio 229 trophy and 208 by peugeot sport by the way.

So apart from the apparantly handling of the ST being better (untested) how do you figure out the car's in that list are better when they aren't as well built, don't look as nice and don't perform as well (in a straight line at least as an unbiased track test hasn't been done to my knowledge)

Still doesn't change the fact I researched and went round all the small hot hatches for 6 months and still preferred the Polo

Well VW don't offer that but superchips map doesn't affect the warranty as they themselves take over.

But it isn't? Most of the Polo's are putting out over 200-210bhp plus they have 236ib/ft of torque which is significantly more than the fish!

Oh right, they are all putting out more than the manufacturers state rolleyes

Even is that was true the Fiesta is still 140kgs lighter and so has a better power to weight ratio. Either way you are arguing over 10ths of a second whilst calling the ST slow and the Polo a rocketship. Speedwise they are comparable so if one is slow then do is the other.

The owners have been reporting so and the one superchips developed it's map for had 207bhp standard so...

I really don't care anymore. Everything has been taken out of context so meh

Yes otherwise known as catching the slide. Can also get on the power to pull the back end back into line if needed.

Really? I can do sarcasm too. Or I could just call you a massive bellend.

You absolutely could do that.

Or you could just put the video back up and let the learned folk of PH view your "opposite lock" and judge it accordingly?

The fabled dab of oppo has arrived!

Funny, it looked more like you'd been drawn into a bend too fast because you were fixated by the Twingo and found yourself in a right state when you realised you'd got it wrong. Luckily you were going pretty slowly or it could have been a moment.

All exacerbated by the fact he was in a Polo GTI. The notorious widowmaker; famed for its 'on the edge', tail happy on the limit handling.

All in a days work for our man here though.

( pulls pin and chucks another grenade in the thread)

Your polo has exactly the same 0-6 (6.7 seconds) as £1500 worth of clio cup , fair enough you have almost 10 mph at the top end but realistically how often are you ever going to get into 3 figures?
