I suppose with the Civic being the better car they don't need to give all day test drives, it'll sell itself.
As generous as Ford may be, this was not a Ford supplied test drive :-). It belonged to my 71 year old dad who received his RS a couple of weeks ago. :-)- Back on topic -
I stumbled across this thread a bit earlier and have just spent the last couple of hours or so reading it Its made me larf, cry, winge, larf again, and as with so many GG threads wonder how complete bks and informative interesting stuff always seems to survive in the same thread
I can also comment as follows
I believe Joe said earlier that he lived 20 minutes away from Snetterton …. I live about 15 minutes max from Snetts, so Joe is anywhere between 5 and 35 minutes away from where I live.
I have only owned three FWD cars, a Morris 1275 Cooper S (in the early ‘70’s) an MG ZS180 (my daughter has it now), and my current daily/snotter, a ’96 Golf VR6…. Accordingly I have no experience of modern FWD stuff like Hot Honda’s or Ford’s and so cannot really add anything meaningful to the topic….
Notwithstanding the above, having owned a few fairly quick cars over the years, I would say that a second or two faster round a racing track typically has feck all meaning in the real (on the road) world…
Drive what you can afford, and what you enjoy… anything else is just willy waving expensive bks although as you get older you will grow out of it..
Now, about these really fast Polo’s………………….
Oh, and Joe, if you want to know what a properly quick car feels like then pm me
I might only live round the corner from you....

Again I just said Polo Gti was underrated...
The VR6 better be turbo'd then
Just because the type r side appears to be losing this battle I'm going to say
"What's the focus rs' nurburgring laptime?"
But it's not. Nobody is losing, only credibility for some, maybe? The VR6 better be turbo'd then

No idea, I didn't buy the Type R because of its laptime, but because of how it drove - obviously the way it drives is responsible for that laptime I confess The VR6 better be turbo'd then

I did consider boot size, room in the car and all that pish as well but they weren't top of the list!
Well despite me having had two test drives in the CTR and commenting in a previous thread how it wasn't for me etc etc; having read this thread and not being a big fan of the Focus purely based on looks (shallow I know and rich given the CTR's opinion splitting looks) I went out and bought a pre reg with 300 miles on.
It's the GT version with carbon interior kit and 5 year service plan and bought for a relative steal.
Having blatted it around on my own a few times over the BH weekend - I love it; but of course I'm going to say that ha ha
No, seriously though; absolutely pin sharp drive and handling. I'm not sure I'd live with it as a daily but its certainly a welcome addition to the car family.

Well played Sir, I hope you enjoy it. I can't get on with them in white personally, but it's still a great motor. It's the GT version with carbon interior kit and 5 year service plan and bought for a relative steal.
