Keyless fobs. Why?

I have keyless entry and I find it overall, a much better system than having a physical key. The car unlocks when my fingers contact the touch pad inside any of the door handles, and will lock when I brush the outer edge of the door handle. This means that I don't need to fumble around in my pocket looking for the key, or trying to separate a smaller key from a bunch of keys. The next benefit is that once inside the car, I don't need to find an ignition slot. I can leave the key in my pocket and just push the START button, and off I go.

Mental note, steal more work bags.... Seriously though I much prefer the idea of having a key that goes into a slot or the car won't go. Doesn't need to be a blade as such and a butting is finefine, but I have lost my keys enough to prefer to know exactly where they are haha!
Haha I should add that my work bag is either in my boot, cab floor or on my shoulder.Totally agree... it's not for me.
But what's worse is cars which haven't had keyless entry/locking specified, but also don't have an ignition key/card slot. So you have to get the key out to unlock the car, get in and either throw the key in the door card, cubby or a cup holder then push a button to start and again to stop, pick up the key, get out the car and then lock the car with it.
It's a first world problem, but it's irritating and more hassle than the traditional key/ignition was IMO.

With the ST-3 you have the keyless ignition as well as the keyless entry so you jay press the button on the handle and open the door. Makes more sense that way. I would pay extra mind, it's just the deal I got was on the ST-3.

So I have to unlock the car on the fob, get in, throw the key in the tray, press the START button and when i stop, I have to press the START button to stop the engine and then root for the key so I can lock it when I get out. With the ST-3 you have the keyless ignition as well as the keyless entry so you jay press the button on the handle and open the door. Makes more sense that way. I would pay extra mind, it's just the deal I got was on the ST-3.
So many opportunities to lose it or have to root round ypour pockets looking for it.
Yes, it has a key inside it for emergencies but really, I prefer a key. I actually like the turning of the key, not the pressing of a button.

Don't think so. Instruction in the book is to place fob close to door for keyless entry the same as putting it where a key would traditionally go to start car. Both have sensors or something according to book that allow you entry even when the fobs battery is almost dead.The only thing I can see the key being handy for is the glovebox lock.
Either way the whole keyless thing is helpful but not if you're a bloke who never uses a bag. Pockets get emptied into the car and keys don't come out of pockets easily when sitting down. I still use the unlock/lock button and press the button!

There should be, that picture is from a Passat, you need to pull off the right bit of the handle as per the picture. I've had a number of cars over the years that have had keyless entry, ALL have a backup key slot under a cover, usually under that bit of the handle.The only thing I can see the key being handy for is the glovebox lock.
