A lovely thing, but price is insane, even for 6k. Imagine all those perished rubber bits that haven't been used for years...

Also, no mention of the Saab 99/900 turbo that surely represents amazing value next to this?

cloud9 Lovely stuff.

Reverse turbo lettering = cool

I think the closest I'll ever get to one of these is a 1/18 model! biggrinfrown

I saw that 320 Art Car on display with some of the others in Norway 4 years ago.

I love the reversed graphics on the front spoiler - for the car in front

Reminds me of the similar arrangement on the old Lancer

My comment was more from an originality POV. Did BMW offer such an item back then? I think they did but not sure.

I've always had a soft spot for Minilite sports anyway. Another 70's BMW car from the N.I/Ireland BMW clan.

^^^ That's a Baur. This is the proper full cabriolet. (Personally I'd have the optional Katey Perry)

Was that ever official? I thought it was only the Baur available from BMW.

Baur actually built these too, although I think only about 1682 were ever made. Back in the 90's Jaymic offered to convert your regular 02 but unsure if any were done? I think they're one of the prettiest convertibles ever made.

I'll have to dig the rest of the pics out. I've a bit of a thing for 2002s.

Some more of the N.I/Ireland crew.

My first BMW was a lhd 2002tii bought in 1988 when the first hot hatches were hitting the roads and the headlines. The 'Tii' could show most if not nearly all the new pretenders a clean pair of treads; fabulous predictable handling and a 130bhp 2.0 engine when most hatches were in the low 100's made for a rapid machine and cool retro looks.

Many 'Tii's were converted to twin, twin carb set-ups a la Solex powered 'Ti' cars when the injection pumps seemed to give up the ghost but regular sychronising of the pump and butterfly kept mine running sweetly for eight years until, predictably' the bodywork gave up way, way before the powerplant. Peugeot 505GTi's used the same Kugelfischer 4 cylinder system and the mighty E26/1 cars, from the road cars to the ProCar monsters used the Kugelfischer six cylinder pump from 277bhp to silly, fabulous, silly figures.

Round rear lights were winners for the looks but I believe all the 2002 Turbos were the square sets, but the Scheel seats in some of the Turbo cars were a cool place to park oneself.
