Broadspeed (any most other brokers) figures already include the finance contribution discount. If you don't take finance the price goes up.

As mentioned you can cancel the finance within 14 days of taking delivery without any fee. Or pay it off in full at any point after that.
Broadspeed price is actually more than the local dealer has quoted us - roughly the same car price, but then a £199 fee on top. Doesn't matter though as you can't order that model anymore.

Good to know on the finance though, we'll probably do that but a pretty pointless hoop to have to jump through.

Yes, salesmen aren't keen as normally they only get commission on the finance deal after 6 payments, and there's allegedly sometimes mutterings about 'clawing back' the finance contribution. But I've never heard of that actually happening.

OP - If a baby is on the way, PLEASE get a 5 door. Having a 3 door is MUCH more hard work. (Been there, done that)

Yes, you could manage, but it's making life a lot harder for yourselves.

For a start, 3 door cars (Fiesta included) have looooong doors. So if you park in normal (tiny) sized space, it's not easy at all do get in and out and do the 'baby stuff'.

Honestly, dont even entertain the 3 door thing. Please.

It's just my opinion but there are no benefits to choosing a 3 door over a 5 door eith a baby in tow.

Unless you regard the maybe nicer looking styling of the 3 door as a priority.

Just...for both of your sakes...get a 5 door!

Thank you!

Personally, I preferred a 3 door, I just get in the back too which means I can sit down to sort everything out rather than bending over with a bad back.

Not on the way (to my knowledge!) but it sounds like the ST Line is available as a 5 door, so will suggest it.

Mrs SB had a 3-door Fiesta ST when little SB was born. We didn't keep it long wink

Seriously, five-door will be easier, even if you're a family of midgets. And you're likely to find the overall space pretty restrictive. Make sure you can *easily* fit buggy/dogs/etc in the boot.

You don't need a monster estate or an SUV, but even a Focus would be a much better shout if you have a kid coming or planned.

Shameless plug

Yeah like mine! :P
Granted not the red edition Zetec S but that's just a remap and some different coloured non-metallic paint panels for a bigger price tag

If you've got the cash, but they're giving big contributions for the finance deals, Why not finance as little as possible then after you've taken delivery of the car settle the finance.

You'll probably get a nasty call from the dealer but you're well within your rights to do so, and you've got your car so you can tell them to foxtrot oscar! laugh

We've got a Zetec-S at the moment, and our first baby is imminent (due date tomorrow!). We'll be swapping the Fiesta for a 5 door Focus (or similar) as soon as the Fiesta lease is up. The long doors and lack of access being a pain, as well as the fact that the boot won't quite take the pram.
All fits fine in my Volvo estate but the Wife won't drive it.

From the look of it, the new ST Line (what a terribly unoriginal name) is a Zetec-S plus extras, so I don't see any reason not to go for it. I very much doubt they would be adding the 6 Speed gearbox from the Focus, it will be mechanically identical to the Zetec-S.

I don't think they will change anything mechanical either, would be good if they changed the gear ratio, or if they replaced the rear brakes with rear disk brakes though.

PLEASE take this advice as many a supermarket ding is because some mummy has flung open a door against the next car when extracting 'baby AND stuff'.

They probably won't.
The ratios are long because the venerable IB5 gearbox isn't strong enough to take full torque in the lower gears. If they made the ratios shorter they'd have to restrict torque in first and second more than they already do.

The torque restriction in the lower gears is marketed as "overboost" on the higher gears.

Ever wonder why the Fiesta 125/140 (and Corsa Red/Black 150ps) have poor 0-60 times for the power to weight ratio?

Have you tried Broadspeed? https://broadspeed.com/CarView/Ford/Fiesta/39390/E...

I've just specced up an S-Max and it's £7k off list meaning a new one would be about £2 - £3k cheaper than the ex-demo's and 6 month old stock. Not sure if these discounts ever materialise but it's worth looking at and you don't need to take the finance.

NEWSFLASH!! I've just received an email from Broadspeeds answering my question as to what the price is based on and they confirm that the discounted price they quoted was for a cash purchase, not one which is financed.

I changed from a 3-door to a 5-door because the baby car seat business was doing my back in. And I'm only 31.

Please don't get a 3-door!

Yes I though it was weird, now I know why! So the only solution to fix the gear ratios would be to use for example the focus transmission right? Btw I've heard these fiestas come with rear drums ? Is it everywhere or depends on the country?

Dreadful name for what will be a nice car. I don't get the whole 'Line' thing. Was it Audi that started it? It just sounds stupid. hehe

Saw a normal Golf with an R badge. Assumed it was some asshat that just glued on an R badge but as I got closer it actually said R Line.

What a load of twaddle.

I can see why they want to drop Zetec-S seeing as it's a nonsensical name for a car with an Ecoboost engine.

The Focus 1.0L Ecoboost has a six-speed gearbox mated to the three cylinder engine, and the Fiesta ST has a six-speed gearbox mated to the four cylinder engine, so you'd think that it would be possible for Ford to mate a six-speed box to the 3-cylinder engine in the Fiesta 1.0L Ecoboost. I assume the accountants said no.
IMHO it's a bit of a poor show given the premium charged for the 125/140ps models. I wouldn't be surprised if the next Fiesta is offered with the six-speed box.

I think all Fiestas bar the ST have rear drums, also for cost reasons. That said, drums are usually lower maintenance, and are probably perfectly adequate for most drivers and in most situations.

Other specifications seem to vary quite a bit between countries and model years/quarters. 17" wheels were made standard on UK spec Zetec S last year, and I've seen (on Youtube) the Sony head-unit fitted to a northern European spec Zetec S Black edition.

My perfect spec would have been like a Zetec S 140ps, but with the six-speed gearbox, 15" wheels, no foglights and no privacy glass. I also think anti-lag or a supercharger would massively improve the drive.. Sadly I don't make the rules.
